What's with people saying that they are "catholic" or "christian" when they don't even follow or even read the bible?
Isn't it stupid to say you are "christian" because ur parents are, u went to church as a kid, and cause u don't HATE jesus?

For example, why does Katie Holmes think it was a hard decision having to have "converted" to scientoloy from catholicism, when she obviously wasn't living the catholic life? She shacked up with that chris klein for a while (obviously not a catholic virign), and committed other "Hollywood" sins

I was raise Jehovah's Witness, but I do not identify myself as one, as I was disfellowshipped. I was living with two females at the time. Later, one did move away, leaving a note that she couldn't take the sharing, but we never could figure out who it was addressed to. So, take what I say any way you want it. I say it honestly, based on knowledge gathered.

The Apostle Paul was becoming frustrated with the early Christians, because they had begun returning to many of the their old ways, such as celebrating birthdays and the holidays of men. If it had begun to break down during the time of the early apostles, imagine now, nearly 1900 years later how much worse it is. People think that the reference to the Israelites in Revelations, literally means the current Israelites, but Revelations said at the very beginning that it is done in symbols.

Prior to the time of Jesus, Israel was God's People, but at the moment that Jesus died, the great curtain, covering the Most Holy of the Temple, tore open to show that God's Holy Spirit no longer resided there. This curtain was made of spun gold, and as very heavy. Inside the Most Holy was the Ark of the Covenant. Only the Most High Priest could see or touch it. Anyone else would die instantly just to see inside. To enter the Most Holy, they had to crawl on hands and knees, to get under the curtain. Tearing this curtain open was a mighty feat, and allowed everyone to see inside, and the very fact that they could, without dying, showed that things had radically changes.

After Christ, Christians became God's People, or the New Israelites. The prophesies that these (new) Israelites would fall away, only to return to the teachings of Christ, meant Christians, which is exactly what they did. They began falling away from the teaching of Christ even before the original Apostles had passed away. From there, things got steadily worse. At this point, they still haven't learned their lesson. They still partake in the holidays and observances of men, they involve themselves in things not of God's Kingdom, such as worldly governments, and they try to force other people to live their lives differently, instead of just following what Jesus said to do, the learn the Bible, preach the Bible, and teach others how to preach and teach. Instead, they say it is too hard and that only one person in a congregation need to do all the preaching and teaching. When some significant portion of modern day New Israelites return to the ways of Christ, then we will know the end times is upon us..

We all try to get where God is, and many don't really know how to get there.
If someone say they are religious, and they go do awful things, it's not up to us to judge them, but to pray for them. And I do not mean as a christian. We should pray for them to see the light and find the path, and for us too, so we could find ours.
We often think that since we go to church and read the bible, or don't live a Hollywood live, we are better than those who don't go to church or read the bible or are in Hollywood. We ALL are sinners, and we ALL should pray for each other and our self to find the light and path which will lead us to God.

I totally agreew ith u. I really get very mad when Britney Spears and Beyonce' or Jessica Simpson, say oh i am a Chritian. But u see them singing secular music and u see them in music videos with no clothes hardly on or short shprts or a video that is so vulgar that it cuased her own fans to make a petition to take it of and do a new one. That is why i get mad. Why is it so hard to sing religous songs? Gospel, worship ongs to God? Its not that hard. U can't say oh i won't get attntion cuz im doing gopel!.

Look at Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, and Cece Winans, they sing gospel and only gospel but u see htem everywhere and most people know atleast more than two people on that list.

In hollywood its hard to be a religion cuz u get offers that cna give u millions for doing something like getting naked or for kissing somone or doing nude scences. That is why Hollywood is full of sin. An actress, actor, singer, whatever may come to hollywood being very religious in their faith but then when they start doing thing, tehy see how socirty likes sex and drugs and all that stuff so they want to maek more oney, so they decided to do that.

Beyonce' is a hypocrite. I am sorry to judge cuz God siad not to but she dances and shakes her botty and all she does is whine about a boyfriends breaking up but then makes a gospel cd with her friends. How can u say "Cuz my body's too bootylicious for yah baby!" and hten sing "Oh God u r good and i lvoe u. Lord uve been so good to me and give me blessings."?

Yes, and how you claim to be Christian when you are seriously lacking in love for your fellow man?
We all have our foibles. I have a serious intolerance of 'church ladies' of either sex or any age, always bashing sinners in a totally un-Christ-like manner. Not that He ever bashed sinners in any manner. They already know they are doing bad. It's people like you who need to be told. Well woe unto you, scribe and pharisee. Just kidding.
Now dear, you sit down right here. Let me take your hand. You are not being helpful. Yes, faith in Christ is more than parentage, more than attendance, more than a lack of animosity toward Jesus, but dear, it also means to love others.
Why don't you write to Katie Holmes and tell her about your love for Jesus and his love for her?
If Lulu will not accept replies, she should not send mail.
I speak partly in jest.
Yes, I do believe that we should all apologize to everyone else, meaning that we should assure them that we are aware of historic errors and crimes and wish to insure that they will not reoccur. If you do not apologize for slavery and the holocaust, as I do here, historic might be repeated. Some people in this world still use religion to justify violence. That should not be tolerated.
Hey, I don't care what Katie Holmes does, she's not a Christian and I have no connection to her. But if you are going to criticize someone (Not condemn, condemn is what the judge does when he sentences you to the chair) you should do it to their face. Obviously, I can't go to Tehran. They wouldn't allow me, I can't afford the plane fare. That is why I asked (again, partly in jest) for an 'apology'. But my question was, "Anybody going to give it?" Obviously, no. We waste our breath fusing and fuming over religion. It's not meant to be that way! And that is the part of my appended answer that's pertinent to the question at hand. Why ask why? They do, and in a free country they have every right to their stupid ideas. As also do I. I still think you should write to Katie Holmes.

Because religion is like a mere social organisation. Whoever wants can join easily without any prerequisites of seriousness of intention or piety. Being religious means professing to belong to a particular religious body, irrespective of whether or not one follows the rules and regulations of the body. In other words, they could be religious without being spiritually developed.

It's not possible to follow the doctrines of any religion while living a secular life. The point of a stricture is to have ideals to aspire to above your normal behavior, they don't change what you need to do day my day. Being religious just means that you believe it's tennents are correct, not that you're perfect.

Bravo, I agree. But it's about a relationship with God, not a religion (a system of works and worship people think will please God) Jesus shed His blood for us and we are washed clean!! The work for salvation is finished. All we have to do is receive by believing and trusting Him as Savior. then getting to know Him is the main thing. You should go to a good church because it helps you to get to know him, but religion on its own is useless.

Actually, they are acting religious. Religion is self-righteousness, trying to get at God your way rather than through Jesus Christ. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father but by me." People who try to get to heaven by any other way than Jesus are thieves. As Jesus said, they try to enter the sheep fold by another way. Labels do not mean anything to God. You either have Jesus in your heart or you do not have him at all. Anybody can claim to be anything that they want, but if their heart is not set in it, then they live and tell a lie.

While I have never considered myself "religious" I do consider myself to be a Christian and no one or nothing can take away my faith. It blows my mind to see people go from a Christian faith to something like Scientology where they believe you are your own God. Of course it's pretty obvious to me that Tom Cruise thinks he's his own God...putting people down for what they do. Many people consider themselves spiritual as do I.
