666 is commonly believed to be the number of the beast as stated in Rev 13:18, but... some claim that it has been wrongly translated (as many other things in the bible) and that the true number of the beast is 616.

666 is the number of the beast, which is the Antichrist. Six is the number of man and 666 is the number of a man magnified to his limit. The Antichirst will be the ultimate carnal man, having not the Spirit of Christ in him. He will establish a one-world religion that will be a Christless Christianity. This religion will actually focur on him. He will be so powerful that he will be able to control commerce throughout the world, thus everyone that wishes to buy, sell or trade must have the mark of the beast either on their forehead or in their right hand. This technology is already in place. I believe that the mark on the forehead will be a bar code tattooed into the skin, and that the mark on the right hand will be a computer chip under the skin. Jesus Christ will defeat him, along with Satan and the false prophet. The false prophet will be the front man for the Antichrist. The Antichrist will have remarkable intellectual abilities. He will have the power to read minds and the poower to interpret situations in a far greater degree than the prophet Daniel was able to. It is my belief that he will be a closet homosexual, as the Bible says that he will prefer the company of men over that of women. He will have a wife for the sake of politics, but she will be his wife in name only. Some say that he will be a Jew, but I think that he will be a Gentile, possibly even the President of the United States, because he will have great amounts of wealth at his disposal and he will have great armaments to disperse throughout the world. Currently, only America can do this. The end times are near.

The Omen, is a twisted version of the truth. The real Beast, is a kingdom, not a man.

The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth (Dan 7:23)

The Beast has to be a country, kingdom or a power to that magnitude. If you were to read the chapters of Daniel 2, 7, 8 and maybe even 9-12, and compare scripture with scripture, using also Revelation 12, 13 and 17, you will come to the conclusion that all the describing points of this kingdom point inconclusively to one power that exists on this earth, and has for over a millenia.

As for the number of the beast, it is a man's number, but 666 is just a small identifying characteristic, which just enforces the other 20 which can be found, many significantly unique.

Traditionally the number '6' symbolizes man, and/or incompletion or imperfection. Because of it symbolizing imperfection and flaws the triple '666' came to symbolize Satan. The number '7' stands for perfection and completion. Also recognized as the number for God.

There have been many different numbers that symbolize different aspects of religion and Christianity for centuries. Another example would be the number '12'. We all know how often that appear in scripture as well.

An example of '12' and '7' being prefigurements is when Jesus fed the 5000 and the scraps were collected. 12 baskets were filled. Again when He fed the 4000 there were 7 baskets of scraps collected up. These numbers were not random, but symbolised the first mission was for the Jewish people and the latter was for the Gentiles. Everything means something.

These numbers and symbolism have nothing to do with computers, television, or the movies. It is the media that has picked up on the symbols and used them for entertainment.

Remember what the Bible says, "this calls for wisdom", that is to say, you need to apply wisdom in order to interprete the true meaning of 666. To get the proper picture, you should read from verse11, it is very terrifying but interesting, just like something out of a horror movie, it also tells you why certain religion carry marks on their forehead.
