Cain went to the land of Nod. Away from his mother. My guess has always been that he mated with monkeys. (Or possibly his wife was his sister?)

Hi there.
In regard to what the "mark on Cain" was, I couldn't say for sure because the Bible doesn't. However, I would suggest that it was some symbol of divine protection. If I had a pound for every theory on the exact nature of the mark that people have come up with over the years I would probably be very rich. Apparently, the Mormons once taught the heresy that it referred to black skin. Mormons, please feel free to correct me if that is wrong !
Verse 17 - If Eve was Cain's wife as well as Adam's then I assume that the Bible would have referred to her by name. It must have been a sister that he took with him when he went out from God's presence. As God's law had not yet been given through Moses, incest would not have technically been a sin.
Hope this helps. May God bless you.

Where does it say that?
Since Adam and Eve had two sons, I do understand how someone can assume that Cain had relations with his mother. But, can't there be another explanation? Do we really think, that the only ones that are written in the bible existed? That there were no one else after Adam and Eve? And even if we do assume that there was only Adam and Eve, can't we assume that they had more children?
There's a lot written in the bible, but I'm sure that there are a lot more that hasn't been written. Actually, John tells us in John 21:25, that there is a lot more Jesus did, that they didn't write about. Isn't it fair to assume, that there was a lot that happened before Jesus too, but they didn't write about them?

Genesis 4:15-17 reads:

15 But the LORD said to him, "Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, [f] east of Eden.

17 Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch. 18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

God was judging Cain for killing his brother Abel; God sentenced cain to live in the rough land and be more like homeless or expelled like a vagabond from among his family which Adam started to form.

As for his wife, this question has been asked more than a thousand times. When you tell who she was, every body becomes so thrilled or shocked when he knows it was his sister. Who else? I have a book titled the lost books of the Bible. The story of Adam and Eve is told in great details; you would enjoy every word as you read the book. In this book Cain's sister was called Loulawa, and she was beautiful as described in the book. Cain hated Abel much before God's acceptence to his offering because he was afraid that he will take loulawa to be his wedded wife. What makes the story much more thrilling is that Loulawa wasn't only cain's sister, but his own twin. This makes her much more closer to cain than normal because she would probably have similar genes. Because she was his twin and therefore more suitable to Abel than to Cain. There was enmity between Cain and Abel as they both wanted to marry her. You can buy the book and enjoy reading it. You could find it either in a big book store or among the books not certified as written by the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Library. The name of the book is:The Lost Books of the Bible"

Eve was Cain's Mother and not the devil as some people interpret the Bible. After Adam and Eve were expelled out of the Garden Eden, Adam knew Eve and She gave birth to Cain.

here is the important thing to know. There is what is written, and what is not written, both are important in and for grasping what you should learn.
Examples---it never says the scripture is written in chronological order all the time, it never says the garden was on earth, mighta been, the scripture never intimates that it records everything that happened. it never says Adam was the only man ever created. it never says the message is about science or history and it is the message! you need to understand so don't get hung up on all that other that is just being thrown out there to confuse and cause separation of the people who want to be God's friends. The opposition never found a species so easy to distract as are we. look and listen what is the message how does it affect your decisions and actions cuz that is what determines who you are and where you are going. Are you a person who wants to be God's friend??? or are you proud and want to be superior to God and His scripture some one who actually is a uniter or are you a Bush type who brings decension and chaos while you pick your neighbors pocket.

Who are you that is the question? a proud desention pusher or one who promotes love and undersyanding regardless of what limitations your neighbor may be experiencing.
sorry about my poor spelling

Cains wife was probably from a nomadic tribe outside of the garden of Eden. He founded a nomadic city named Enoch.

If God created Adam and Eve, could God create others from dust as well, not of the covenant?

I believe so, but the covenant with God was with His created beings Adam and Eve. The promise given to them after their fall from grace.

I think this is plausible.

yes. Cain and Abel's mother is Eve. but his wife's name was not mentioned.
And God is saying that anyone who killed Cain would die and to make sure that he didn't die, He put a mark on him so that he wouldn't be found. But he didn't want to be witjh God so he decided to get out of God's life and live somewhere without God's protection. God wanted Cain to suffer with what he did to his own borhter instead of immediately dying for killing sonmeone. He wanted him to spen days and days feeling guilty or feeling bad fro what he did. Thats why God let him live, even after killing his own brother.

That reminds me of the tormenting question: What really is incest; and when/why did incest become a sin if all of us originated from the same Adam/Eve?

I never heard a sane, or even remotely intelligent answer to this question. Remember that faith is belief based on nothing. Trying to explain the irrational is futile but that will not stop religious people.
I joke by saying she was the first space alien to land on Earth?
She was Lilith's daughter?
Does the story of those two brothers mean we are all children of a murderer? It sure explains what Bush is doing in Iraq.
