...if we were all allowed to believe whatever we felt was right without fear of judgement or ridicule?
I think so. Surely everybody should have the freedom to go about their lives without being judged by those who feel that they are better people purely because of their religion. Whether you have been raised to belive in God or Allah or whoever, or have been allowed, as I have been, to make your own decisions on religion and spirituality, it all comes down to one thing. If you strip away all the books, all the religion, all the belief, are we not all made from the same thing? I'm not saying that the world would be a better place with or without religion. All I'm saying is that it would be a far better place if we weren't all butting heads over who's right or wrong all the time.

it all depends, because freedom is good thing but, when people tend to have too much of it ends up bringing alot of problem. People would live to believe that whatever they choose to is right as there would not be guideline as what should be expected of individual. you will come to find that most of the wrongs and evil that will have happened in the world will have been caused by people who never had the fear of God in theire lives. This will be individuals who probably will have been led to believe that what the have done is right and there is no reason why they shouldn' not have done it.
When people are left on theire own they tend to see themselve and what they do to be the right thing, they very self-centered and wouldn't participate in helping other people.

Well, basically your right. I don't bother anyone with my atheism or whatever, unless I'm asked to. The problems start for me when people believe in political and social and moral doctrines that are connected to a god, and this is called a religion. Many of the religions have some sort of obligation built in to "spread the word". So if you are asking who is bothering who, then I'd say that religion bothers religion and all other that don't comply to their thinking. Religious people should leave people alone that are not convenient with the all mighty answer that silences all questions: "god".

I would like to share your optimism about people irregardless of their religion. If you cut me I will bleed, as would everyone else.
But, mankind is a selfish race, and will always be looking out for number 1. What kind of world would that be,I shutter to imagine.

I believe the good in people comes from having a clean heart, charity, brotherly-love, and agape love and that comes through Jesus Christ. It is those that have courage, have endured hardships, fought for religious freedom and stand for what they believe in that are heroes in this great country America.

My faith is what makes life worth living here.I believe a relationship with Jesus is all God ever wants from you & me. You have to stand for something or you will fall for anything.

The world would be a wonderful place if there were no humans in it, but that's not going to happen. We must put up with each other and not get so offended when people disagree with us. I realize that this is not easy because we all have our pride and the devil plays off that pride. Let us just love one another and agree that everyone has the right to his/her opinion, but also that everyone has the right to express his opinion. Persuasive argument is an art form in Western society, and it cannot be wished away. Jesus loves you.

I realize this is the "Answer" web-site so questions must be asked. But why must we spend so much time pondering the imponderables? Life is about survival. So time is better spent on finding ways to kill the other guy before he kills you:)
