You are in a house. There is one room downstairs, and one room upstairs and no windows in the house. Upstairs there is an electric light bulb in its fittng. Down stairs there is no light, but there are three light switches, one that turns the light on upstairs. When the light is on it doesn't reflect downstairs. You can only go upstairs once. Which light switch turns on the light upstairs?

switch the forst switch, wait a few minutes and switch it off. then switch the second and go upstairs. If the light is on -> switch 2, if it's off feel the bulb - if it's warm -> switch 1, else switch 3

One way would be to turn on any two and wait for several minutes. After the several minutes you turn off one of the two switches and run upstairs. If the light is on it is the switch still in the on position. If the light is off but the bulb is hot then it is the one you just turned off. If the light is off and the bulb is cold then it was the one you never turned on.

seriously tho, maybe the upstairs light bulb doesn't work which means that none of the light switches will work cos u need to replace the bulb

1. Turn on switch 1 and leave it on for a minute or two.
2. Turn off switch 1, turn on switch 2 and run upstairs immediately.
If the light is on, switch 2 controls it.
If the light is off and warm, switch 1 controls it.
If the light is off and cold, switch 3 controls it.

just switch them all on and then go upstairs,one of them is bound to be the right one! if thats not right plz pput us outta our misery and fess up!
