Don't know any agency that accepts candidates for BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Trng) without high school diploma or GED equiv.

Check with your local City police and county Sheriff standards training officer.

Consider taking GED at your local Community College.

I know some people that went to Jailer (JAIL) Certification-
worked as Jailer and moved up into Police officer ranks.
Attended school thru part time vice full time.

Anyway you would still need a Law enforcement agency approval to recommend you for training- at least in North Carolina.

Good Luck.

First thing to do is to get your GED diploma. Police forces like to hire people with at least two years of education beyond high school, so plan on attending college or junior college. And, most important, go down to the police station and talk to someone about what you would like to do -- you will find out all sorts of things that you won't learn here.

Get your GED, and apply to small town departmetns, maybe start with the county jail, and then work you way out of the jail to street duty.

The better paying departments will normally hire college grads first, esp ones with military experince.

You may be to old. Police departments like to hire younger people like in thier 20's because than they can retire younger. You should go down to ur local department.

Start working up your dishonest skills, practice threatening to arrest just for a good show of force and then get good at denying what you saw your partner do

Eat lots of doughnuts, and don't forget to pee before walking out the front door on your shift.
