Ken Miller is a biology professor who is one of the biggest proponents of evolutionary theory in the country, and one of the biggest opponents of Intelligent Design... and he's also a Roman Catholic.
So, yeah, you absolutely can. I only believe in evolution but I was never a Christian to begin with. If I WAS a Christian, all I would have to do is not take the Bible so literally; if you do that, evolution is perfectly compatible with Christian creationism. Any Christian will tell you that "we don't know God's ways" and "God is mysterious," so how do we know the methods that he used?
But regardless of what you want to believe, evolution happened, and it's teachable because it's provable. Evolution isn't some evil gigantic Darwinian conspiracy to discredit the church; it was a theory that was developed by people who were using logic and making observations based on what they saw. And it makes sense, if you would just take the time to open your eyes to it.

The answer to your question is in the question. You can believe in whatever you want to as long as you believe in it. Who cares what others think? If you believe that a big bologna sandwich made the Earth out of a big ball of dryer lint, then as long as that's what you believe in it's fine. If people tell you that you can't believe in both evolution and the bible, they only want you to be a part of the group mentality that has defined organized religion for so long.

The bible in Genesis has two descriptions of the creation of the world written side by side intermingled with each other, one of them is very much like evolution, darkness, light , the animals etc. look at it again with an open heart and try to learn the message before you spread the message
Maria g where exactly did you get a copy of the original bible?
is there a web page? I also am impressed that you can read Sanskrit and Aramaic, the bible was translated from a language that reads right to left. perhaps the translator just wrote it in a way he understands, left to right.

One one end there is the color black, and on the other end there is white. What we often forget is that there are a lot of colors in between.
The bible teaches us that God created the world. Evolution wants us to believe that we evolved from monkeys. And so are many other believes more.
I can't tell you which one you should believe in. But, I do agree with you that you can't believe in both.

Well, technically you can believe what you want to believe in.
However, to believe in both what the bible says and what evolution says means that you don't really understand what either is teaching.
Evolution teaches everything exactly opposite to the biblical account of creation.
EVOLUTION
Land before water
Reptiles before birds
Sun before light
CREATION
Light before sun
Water before land
Birds before reptiles
And many others. But the biggest contradiction of them all is that evolution teaches death before man. The bible clearly says that man brought death into the world and nothing died before sin.
So, if evolution is true, then death is a good thing because it is how life forms get ahead and evolve into the superior life form.
If Creation is true, then death is a result of sinful man and we need a savior because of our fallen state.
I encourage any Christian who is fooled by evolution to look at these points and really understand what both theories teach.

Yes you can. I believe Al-Qur'an and evolution. Evolution is just another wonder of God, just another sign of His unlimited ability to create whatever he wants.

I like to think that you believe one or the other, although I'm sure that there are people who would not agree with this. I'd love to hear Jeanne's views on this!
