There is no one 'best champagne' as they all have their own special complexities that makes them favourite to different people. Do you want to buy a bottle to impress? Go to a good wine merchant (not a supermarket) and get them to talk you through their stock. For an 18th/21st present go for a well known name but don't spend more than £30 unless they know their bubbly. For a wine lover go for what the merchant recommends and spend what you can afford. For guests buy a well known label but think of what you are eating, no point spending a lot on something to be drowned out by the food. And MOST IMPORTANT if buying for yourself: the best champagne in the world is the one you like best. Alas you will have to taste many types for this: some love Moet, some love Bolly, I love Piper Heidsieck. Try what is recommended by other people. Supermarket brands are often good for drinking but beware of the corner shops cheap offer. Work your way up to the most expensive bottles as your tastebuds develop, but you may find your best turns out to be Tesco's own. It should be YOUR best and that is all that matters not what anyone else likes.

Go to Champagne
Stay in Auberge Champenoise in Moussy, just outside Epernay.
The food is fantastic and there are champagne houses within walking distance where you can taste champage for free then buy some. Best I've found Paul Gobillarde

Not always the well known name is always the best. Try Tesco's own brand it has won loads of awards and is priced to suit the pocket of most.
What ever you are celebrating. Cheers! and have a great time.
Apparently you can now buy Champagne made in the UK. And it is fast earning a reputable name.

Dom Perignon is regarded as the 'best' manufacture of Champagne..but you won't get a bottle for less than £100. On the high street Non Vintage, Bollinger, Moet, Lanson, is good, and it is just about your taste preference. For me Bollinger taste fresher and crisper than the other two

Moet and Chandon White Star, a balanced blend of the three vine varieties, reveals a harmonious succession of sensations, a soft maturity, elegant lines, offering you sensations which can be shared and celebrated at any time. White Star Quality : Extra-dry. Assemblage : Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. color : golden yellow with shades of amber. Aroma : aroma of flowers, hazelnuts, and biscuits. Palate : soft with a fruity finish, evoking the peach. very delicious.
