what type of files?
what type of CD? data, music, program files ???

with no info. to go on, all I can say is to finilize or close it.

I guess you used a CD-R. A typical CD-R supports multi session writes - in other words, you may write to the CD at many points in times. However, you may not erase anything on the CD. It would still show the older data that was on the CD when you write on it a second time. The third time you write on it, you would have the data that was written on it the first two times and there on. If you use the same file / folder name then the earlier file / folder does not show up, but it also does not free up any space on the CD. Typically a CD-R would hold about 650-700 MB of data and you can write to the CD as many times as you want to, till you reach that capacity.

However, if you close or "finalise" a CD, you may not write anything on to it again.
