There is no such thing as sin. But it does make me nervous to see someone praying in public. I have no idea what they are about to do. People with schizophrenia who believe they are talking to god and it is talking back are dangerous people. If you see someone praying just run away.
According to holey buybull, they aren't supposed to be praying in public anyways.
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Of course it isn't a sin. Praying to God is never a sin depending on your intention. If you intend to show off before the people how good you are like the scribes and the Pharisees among the Jews, then you would get your praise from the people not from God, and God won't answer your prayers on account of your intentions. But if your intention is to bring people to salvation, then you are doing God's will where ever you are. Perhaps God is using you to bring salvation to the lost souls. Paul used to preach in the public all the time; it is therefore considered justified before God because of his intentions. Paul was killed because of that; he always brought people to salvation and mostly starting to preach from a public area and later from the houses of those who accepted him.

Why throw pearls before swine? I will gladly pray for anyone who asks. Any christian should be ready to pray at anytime. I am sorry for you as you are lost and in need of a savior. Why don't you give your heart to Jesus?

Actually the Bible tells them not to - can't remember the quote but it's in the Sermon on the Mount. You're meant to pray in a closet or something like that.
I don't know if it makes public praying a 'sin' or not, but the 'WWJD' brigade would do well to remember that public prayer is _not_ what Jesus would do...

Not if it is a sincere prayer. It would be wrong however to pretend to pray so as to make a scene.

I find it particularly offensive since there are a group of born-again-xtians in my neighborhood that like to have these little open air prayer circles on the street corner in front of my house.
