Do people keep protection and security pets other than dogs? I may be wrong, but I have heard of pet (security) bees and hornets, but I haven't been able to fine any info on that yet. It is theoretically possible to train bees, but I dont know the extent to which they can detect and attack intruders.

I read a story when I was little that Siamese Cats used to be used as guardians for palaces.

I have never heard of it, but I guess it could be done, and I have no reason to doubt you. If it was easy to train bees as security, we probably would already be using them already. Maybe in time.

What of snakes and lions? At least a retired army general in my country has a warning inscription hung on his palatial mansion gate that reads: Beware of Snakes. In a similar fashion and version, another one keeps lions in his compound.

My rabbit is my dog. He wacks his tale on the ground when he senses danger...and he also kills the cockroaches in our front yard.
