Politics was introduced in grade school for me, I live in the U.S. and then they reintroduce and teach you more until you graduate 12 yrs later. Four years before you graduate you get mroe specific American politics, economics, World economy and politics, and things of that sort.

im 16 just finished school in england & im now at college we were never taught politics at school or anything 2 do with government we just kind of picked it all up from watching newsround or by watching party elections broadcasts when they interpted cbbc so in answer 2 ur question some children are though most aren't i think i probably know more about american politics than english though due 2 films

I was never taught politics in school, but always had to listen to the news from a very young age, so have learned more along the way...

Children in the UK (like most adults) have little or no political awareness. The level of debate rarely gets past the 'Blair is a tosser', 'Cameron who?' stage. Sad. Bit like Yahoo answers, really.

. . . it would be a waste of time trying to teach politics to the kids here in the UK - if we can't even get them to accept that their new healthy school dinners are good for them . . .
