I recently adopted her from the local humane society. She is two years old. I came back in from outside just now, and had a moth on my foot. It flew away and she caught it and ate it. My other cat catches the normal stuff like rabbits, and mice when I let him. Whats going on with her. He doesn't catch bugs and eat them!?

She's just exercising & keeping her hand in with hunting.
Some bring U baby bunnies, some bring U bugs.
Each 2 their own.

Why not? Lucy C. Tabby loves spiders. Really bugs are not a cats favorite prey because the energy put out to catch them does not pay off. You put out as much energy to catch a bug as you do to catch something else and you get bupkis in terms of calories. But your new cat seems to be a sport hunter. If a cat has a back up of a bowl of kibble she can run around all day after moths, spiders, and other small tasty things without finding herself exhausted at the end of the day and still hungry.
Your other cat is just a more efficient hunter.

My cat likes to catch fly... But he doesn't eat it... He only wants to play & trying to improve his hunting skills...

Besides, what's wrong if your cat likes eating bugs? Even there are some humans also like eating bugs... For example in Thailand, people there eat fried giant roaches, frogs, grasshoppers, etc... I know it is gross... Eewww~ But maybe for them it is yummy & crunchy... So that's why they eat 'em...

So I think there's nothing to worry about... Just let your cat have some fun & extra crunchy munchies... LOL... ;-D

Cats are natural hunters and some cats go after anything that moves, others choose their prey. My one cat goes after bugs, I have to take them from her before she eats them, I take the bugs and put them back outside. :)

Cats will catch anything that moves and that are smaller than them....no bugs in a household with cats.

Just normal for cats to eat bugs cos it's excited for them and they're just like the tiger and tiger loves to hunt and eat it.

because it's fun. younger cats tend to go after bugs more so than older cats, but mostly it's a game to them. my kitten who is a year and a half still does it - too bad she didn't get the scorpion before it stung me, but whatever. it's actually part of what they do, it'l like training to get bigger prey.

My cat Sugar has been bringing my Mom and I grass hoppers for the past 2 weeks. He doesn't eat them. He just plays with them and then turns them loose in the house for us to deal with. LOL.

this is normal cat behavior... eventually, as she realizes that food is available in her bowl everyday, she will satisfy herself with just catching the bugs without eating them
