DYI:
to straighten hair you first need straightening product in it. (whilst still damp)
Require a good dryer and a few different sized roller type hair brushes.
Medium to Long hair: divide scalp into 4 parts, then each part take small sections at a time and to the following - Use brushes to drag hair, use some force to keep hair on brush whilst dryer close by drying into position. You don't need to be hurting yourself with it either.
Keep going all around, spend a few strokes of hairbrush with the dryer, but not too many where you can actually burn hair.
Change portions, go over, get the fizz out.

Go over with a straightening iron (careful with these, they can seriously damage hair) for a final touch!

When complete, use product that will keep a sheen on your hair as it also encourages those few straight up sticking pieces to stay closer to the rest of your hair! :)

OR

you can go to the hairdresser to complete for you and avoid all that mess mentioned above!

...remember to stay out of rain and humid weather as it will turn to fizz, just like the Cinderalla story!

I too have curly frizzy hair. This is what works best for me.

1. Always use a coated band to tie up your hair. Experiment with different ones to find one that works best. There are some that are almost square rather than round. They work best for me. Never use a plain rubber band. It will break your hair.
2. Use frizz control shampoo and conditioner. Spend a little more to get good quality. It's worth it.
3. Use something like Redkin's Straight, then blow dry using a big paddle brush or big round brush.
4. Straighten with a Chi flat iron. Save up and spend the extra money on a Chi. It's worth it.
5. If you still have frizzy spots, use a little frizz serum like John Frieda's. The key word is a little. Too much and it looks greasy.
6. Get regular hair cuts (trim) to keep hair in good shape. Also salon conditioning.

I know all this sound expensive and it can be. I make sacrifices in other areas of my budget, because, for me, if my hair doesn't look good, then I don't feel as confident.

Hope this helps.

The only way is to really look after your hair.ie. condition every time you wash it and stop using rubber bands. I buy some tiny little bands from Boots that are snag free. As you are a student money may be tight so buy the best shampoo and conditioner you can afford. If you colour your hair the 'Aussie 3 minute Miracle' range for coloured hair is brilliant. If not coloured, try their normal one. One night a week comb condioner through DRY hair and put clingfilm or a shower cap on and sleep in it. You will be amazed at the results. Every time i wash my long hair I try to leave the conditioner on longer than it says on the bottle. Also try (which is brilliant) Kerastace Nutritive OLEO-RELAX. This is about £12 but lasts AGES as you only use it sparingly.

the superb thank you to discover the superb products to your hair is to attempt all of them. that could be especially high priced yet pass over to a friends abode and use a number of her stuff. See the way it works, and purely shop attempting new issues. Hair would paintings with products from this enterprise and not that enterprise....that is all trial and blunder. If i will propose something, i'd propose you are attempting a warm oil scientific care....for a extra fee-effective thank you to have large mushy and silky hair with much less frizzies, heat up some olive oil (common cooking stuff) interior the microwave and rubdown it into your hair on an identical time as that's dry. Wrap it up in a heat towel from the drier and take a seat for an hour or so. perchance provide your self a facial on the comparable time. Then get interior the bathe, and shampoo out each and all the oil (by way of fact water won't get the oil out--oil and water do no longer mixture) and then concern your hair. Viola! appropriate silky hair. the main key ingredient to conserving your locks is to stay remote from all warmth. Yep, which ability no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron the two....that is totally difficult to no longer advert to those products yet purely try it for a week. do no longer blow dry your hair for a week....try it. i be responsive to that is hard to no longer yet once you reside remote from issues with warmth including blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will see a extensive substitute interior the feel and look of your hair. that's going to be lots extra healthful.

Yeah I have the same problem. Here is my solution.... Walmart.
Yeah Walmart. ok lets see.
Tresseme shampoo 2.37
Tresseme conditioner 2.37
Tresemme mousse 2.19
Tresemme curl care hairspary 1.97
Shine gloss spray/frizz control 1.95
After shower towel dry add mousse (handful or so) then repeat towel dry while squeezing hair up from the ends.
Add 2 or 3 squirts of gloss. repeat towel dry.
Spritz with curl care lightly.
Blow dry or air dry.
Also opt for a hair clip or my favorite an octopus clip.
Thisa takes way less time than straightening and your hair will rock.

Dont use "rubber" bands use clothe coated ones, when you use rubber bands they tend to break hair off and leave fly aways "frizzy" try a deep conditioner as well.

hey....i used to have bad hair too. buy paul mitchell "thicken up" & paul mitchell "soft spray" and a ceramic straightener. put the "thicken up" serum thru wet hair & blowdry . using a comb and clips, start sectioning your hair form your neck to your forehead and spray each small section with "soft spray" just before straightening. baby itll be straight for 2 days!!! good luck.
ps. if u cant afford paul, just buy herbal essences smoothing cream and add a dopple to just washed, just blow dried hair , then straighten using the same technique
