All I can say is that I only have to be listening to secular music for a few minutes before my thoughts turn immoral. Lyrics are subliminal. You cannot help but be influenced by them.
On the other hand, when I listen to Christian music my thoughts are more righteous and pure. There is enough Christian music of all different styles out there that I don't see the need for a Christian to listen to secular music.
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" (Philippians 4:8)

I'm a strong Christian, and I don't think that we are limited to only Christian music. The majority of my friends are Christians, and some of those friends prefer mainstream music. Maintstream music isn't necessarily bad, and of course they exercise good judgment when making their choices to make sure, but yes, it's fine for them to do that. I myself personally prefer Christian rock/hardcore/whatever-I-feel-like to any mainstream music because that is all I have chosen to listen to my whole life. I don't have any desire to listen to anything other than what I do now. Some people think that Christian music is very musically lacking, but if you look around a bit, it isn't hard to find some incredible bands. To Christians who choose to keep their music mainstream, just remember to check out the lyrics of the songs you're listening to, and find out what the members of the band stand for.

I think Christians should stop listening to music altogether. At our local Wal-Mart, the rudest customers and the ones who trash the music section the worst are the ones looking for worship music. This is not a joke!

Not much christian music around any more, mostly just worldly music with some mention of Christianity in it. The bible says that one of the four signs that the church is falling away from God in the last days is that it will become a "singing church"

No, I don't think so. And, this is not because I myself listen to all kinds of music, but just because I think that your religion or believes doesn't imprison you in a small box where you should only listen to their words.
We are free to do whatever we want, and listen to what or whomever we want. Only if you feel that you are loosing your believes, than you should restrict yourself. But, it's a personal choice, not a rule of your believe.
That's what I think.

Christians were created with ears just like everyone else. Those ears can hear all kinds of music, therefore, its ok to listen to just about all kinds of music.
