<>Military time is based on a 24 hour clock. At midnight every day the time resets to 0000. The first 12 hours are easy, just take the actual time you know, drop the colon and the AM or PM, and add zeros in front to make 4 digits. So, 1:00 AM becomes 0100, 9:15 AM becomes 0915, and 12:28 PM becomes 1228. At 1:00 PM comes the tricky part. Then you add 12 to the hours and drop the PM. SO 1:00PM becomes 1300 (12+0100), 6:30 PM becomes 1830 (12+0630) and 11:59 PM becomes 2359 (12+1159), and then you reset at midnight again. To convert back, just subtract 12 from the hours of any time greater than 1259 and add the PM...therefore your 1651 becomes (16-12):51= 4:51PM. The best way is to practice by reading the time the standard way, then converting it and saying it out loud. You will get the hang of it very fast and soon will find you are using military instead of standard because you automatically know whether it's day or night and it's quicker.

It is easy - in army time, whenever the hour number is more than 12, subtract 12. 16:51 - 12:00 = 4:51
Peace!

Simply continue counting past twelve noon instead of reverting to 1:00. 16:51 is 4:51 pm. It just takes a little practice.

military time, like 16:51 is actually 4:51 in standard time
13:00 is 1:00 the technique is this, for example 16:51 you just have to minus 16 from 12 (16-12=4) its that easy..

12 noon
1 pm = 13:00
2 pm = 14:00
3 pm = 15:00
4 pm = 16:00
5 pm = 17:00
6 pm = 18:00
7 pm = 19:00
8 pm = 20:00
9 pm = 21:00
10 pm = 22:00
11 pm = 23:00
12 mn = 24:00
and they say it as 16 hundred hours.. not 16 o'clock

think of it this way their is 24 hours in a day so so after 12:00 insted of being 1:00 it would be 13 and 2:00 would be 14 and so on till you reach 12 again and that would be 24 then you start over

The army and all military use world time. It is like the metric system, the US is just behind the times. World time is based on a 24 hr clock. For PM just subtract 12 hours. twenty- four hundred hours is a fantasy. 2359.9999999999hrs then 0000.0000000001hours if you know what I mean. It is there but who is counting.
