I grew up with Pugs and Boston Terriers. They are very kid friendly and very loyal and playful. With any dog, I would suggest taking the children with you when you go to pick the puppy and watch how they react together. when we went to pick out my dog, a Rottie, I stood back and watch my boys and the puppies. our puppy picked us. I saw how attentive and interested he was in the children. When they brought him out of the fenced yard, he laid down and rolled over on his back for my boys to pet his chest. He is a great dog!

Pit Bulls can be large or small, mine is 9 months and still isn't done growing, by the loose skin and the size of his paws I would say he is going to be *HUGE* (someone correct me if I am wrong there, please?) But, at the same time, I just got a new neighbor with a 2 year old pit who is no bigger than a large Beagle. They are both purebred.

You probably would be better going with a medium to large dog with kids, they can stand up to the unavoidable tail and ear-pulling, death-grip hugs, and clumsy feet of youngsters. And in my (admittedly limited) experience, Pit Bulls *are* excellent "kid dogs"... they are extremely loyal and loving. Mine also has not chosen one of us, but loves the whole family equally, a true "family" dog.

jack russles can be crazy, and have too much energy, get a pit bull puppy. they are some of the most loyal dogs, and if you dont beat them and treat them fairly they will be the best dog you ever own. all dogs can be violent, it all depends how you raise them and care for them. but if you cant have a pit bull....as for a dog good with children...there is no definative answer on what dog is good with kids. get a chiwawa. or better yet get a ferret, they are like kittens their whole life and good with kids.

Maltese would do.
Maltese is one of the smallest dogs and it has white furs.
It is known for loyalty and friendliness.
However, you gotta brush her everyday cause it has long furs.
As a person who also wondered what dog i would get as a pet and as a person who has Maltese as a pet, I would strongly recommand Maltese. It is such a lovely dog.
