Wisdom is the application of things learned, so the two are connected.
“A wise person will listen and take in more instruction,(knowlege)” says Proverbs 1:5. We must also learn to analyze the information we gather, drawing proper conclusions from it. This helps us to "walk in wisdom." -Proverbs 28:26.

A word of knowledge is information given by God through the senses. Facts that only God would know to be true (ex. Acts 20:10 a dead man is alive; Acts 21:10-11 Paul would be arrested or worse)
A word of wisdom is information(combined with understanding) from God given for several reasons: to instruct an individual (Paul was told he was sent to the Gentiles- Acts 22:21) or to settle a dispute (ie. which mother had the live baby- I Kings 3:24-27); or to point to the future (Paul would go to Rome-Acts 23:11) or to save a people (sailors wouldn't survive if they left the ship-Acts 27:31)

I imagine a word of knowledge is about something learned and a word of wisdom is a wise personal perception/thought/idea/opinion.

A "word of knowledge" has to do with something factual - a factoid. In the bible an example of that would be "God created the heavens and the earth." A "word of wisdom" would be advice on what to do with the factoids, such as "do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

Knowledge is something learned. Wisdom is something you were born with. Everyone has wisdom but some do not develop it because they are too impulsive, like the terrorists.
