Rottweilers are much like the breed I raise and are sensitive to many chemicals..However, diluted betadyne shouldn't hurt him..small doses of benadryl will help, if it is indeed an allergy, and not a skin disorder..Vinegar, mixed 1/2 cup to a quart of water eases the itching. One teaspoon of emu oil in a quart of warm water will be really good for his skin. and stop the itching,.Just sponge him down with it, and allow to dry on its own...emu oil is cheapest on eBay..
You might switch to a Wellness hypo-allergenic diet, such as Wellness Simple Food Solutions Venison and Duck Formulas > http://www.omhpet.com/dogs/simple_food_overview.html

If you are not already feeding that formula..

My dogs can't tolerate most flea preventatives, but do great with REVOLUTION, which prevents heartworm and most other worms as well..You can get it at your vet's and they are encouraged to give the first one free...it is a spot-on liquid..However, if the problem is not fleas, but pollens, then the Wellness formula would help the most..

Of course I would, Rotts are some of the most loveable dogs ever. LOTS OF KISSES they give!!! I don't see a place to vote on that link though, but I would definitely vote for him, he seems like a real good boy!
