use drive rescue to undelete all the files. for this you need about 5 GB free HD free space in internal HDD for saving your deleted files and installation of Drive Rescue.. you may use google search or chip CD's for this software.
do not copy any other data on external HDD until you did not recoverd your data to prevent overwriting.

Maybe you can try system restore. If you are using XP just go to
1. Start
2. Programs
3. Accessories
4. System Tools
5. System Restore.
6. Choose the restoration point.

in case you planning to thoroughly reproduction 80g of information i am hoping you've usb 2.o HD exterior enclosure AND usb 2.0 port on you workstation: in this 700mb is merely 3minutes to reproduction. yet in case you purchased both or maybe of them one usb a million.a million, it make time truly a at the same time as. It took me 2 hours merely to reproduction 3gig of information.
