file sharing softwares...i think you r talking about P2P file sharing software
well then...there are tons of them available on internet just for free
get them downloaded at
http://www.download.com/ or by typing there name at google search engines
but i am sure you would get confused abt which one to use and which dont//
hay..no worries i can rank them for you(as wht i read on journals & my personal experience)
1. Morpheus its is best one available over here on internet ,it has more no. of p2p networks then any other p2p file sharing

2. Limewire its very reliable ,has gr8 collection for ya waiting ,if you'r an music lover, best thing about it is,its bit safe to use limewire networks(JAVA BASED TECH)

3. Bittorent ..its good file sharing software ,it has good collection of files and lemme tell you it occupies very less memory space on your harddrive(C++ based Tech)
and it's almost as efficient as limewire is
and in this tech. you have to search a file in network then download a torrent file(keeps address of tht file in netwrk) and has ratings(which can tell ya how safe it ,or does it has maliciuos prgrm in it)
3/. there's tie between bittorent & IMESH ....its good file sharing software.
and it has best gui(graphical user interface) as other counterparts
it uses gnutella networks plus imesh networks which is kool in itself ,everybody knows how popular gnutella ntwrk are....
4. try Emule which is upraded version of edonkey
but it has confusing gui* ,though it's good when it comes to network
5.try Ares,kaaza,mp3 and many others...
but dear,i wld recommend you be carefull while your are downloading a file from there,coz its most vulunerable threat tht we r facing now days

for downloading free movies, music albums, and softwares, use BitComet, and i guaranteed that it's so far the best out there for p2p file sharing programs.
i've been to LimeWire, Shareaza, Warez, Ares, BearShare, eMule, Mp3Rocket, etc. and BitComet beats them all! you can go for uTorrent as your 2nd option, but it's still basically using the same torrents.
i have also finally settled to these 2 p2p programs. i started with utorrent and it's small application makes it ahead of bitcomet, with only small memory consumption, but bicomet had its complete interface without redirecting you to a web based links anymore, more user friendly than utorrent.
i have discovered that both applications could be configured in their preferences to limit the upload rate to 2-3kb/sec while retaining the download rate to 0 or unlimited, so that you can have a faster download rate than upload rate.
i have noticed recently that bitcomet is faster on downloading than utorrent, but it would still depend on the available number of seeders out there. just make sure you have an updated antivirus always, and you can sleep soundly while waiting for a movie to finish downloading. spywares/adwares is not an issue in most p2p programs.

You could find lots of FREE softwares from both links below.
www.filehippo.com -- some softwares need to pay... beware... look for the word FREEWARE, then the software is free.
www.download.com - some softwares need to pay... Under 'License' field....beware... It is free when it states there 'FREE'.

the best free sharing software is limewire nobody can beat that u can get anything on u want for free its the best.and the best part is ots freeeeeeeee.
