There are a lot of reasons you haven't gotten your period on time. The fact that you missed for five months will definitely give you a lot of pain when it does come. You need to see a good OB/GYN as soon as possible.
The rundown of what can throw off your period are these that I know of:
Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome
Frequent dieting and cutting too many calories, and eating irregularly.
Over-exercising. (more than a couple hours a day for many days)
A hormone imbalance.
Even if your in your teens, a missed period for five months followed by severe pain is serious. Your doctor can help you find the answers. If it happens to be hormonal, ask about bio-identical hormones. I know docs are big fans of birth control, but their really terrible for your body in the long run. Good luck, and take Ibuprofen because it's an anti-inflammatory. I like Motrin or Advil.

well,m y body is all normal now, b/c i'm 20 years old, almost 21 but when I first got my period when i was 14, i missed it F-O-R A Y-E-A-R, okay? I was not sexually active or ANYTHING, completely regular 14 year old nothing was weird, nothing was wrong, my mom said the same thing happened to her, but now my cycle is totally normal. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 years for it to normalize. as for the nauseous part, that's normal too. Some girls are just really reallly affected by their periods and others don't even get cramps! Ask your mom what her symptoms were when she was your age...hope i helped.

You might get more responses if you put this under women's health. If this is the first 2 years of your having periods, it's pretty normal to be irregular, even that much of a skip. My daughter swears by midol. At least take tylenol and avoid caffeine. Caffeine causes cramps and aspirin is a blood thinner. Hope you feel better.

It seems that you don't have enough experience in this regard, I would recommend you to go immediately to a Doctor to do the proper diagnosis and to give the proper treatment/medications.
Do not hesitate, it might become worse, take it seriously and pay a visit right now to the Doctor.

Sweetie, go to the doctor as soon as you can. You could have been pregnant and miscarried or still be pregnant. Better to be safe then sorry OK.

i'd head to the dr darlin. if you are sexually active you could very well be having a mis-carriage. it isn't exactly normal to go so far between periods.
