On a scale or 1 to 10 where would you say ‘compassion for all people’ places as matter of importance in your religion?

1 - not important
10 - nothing more important.

How about the ‘non-religious’; what importance do you give compassion in your lives?

Compassion for humanity is my highest priority in life. That is why i speak out against religion. Religions and belief in an afterlife cause tremendous amounts of harm to our society when viewed objectively.

Non-religious... I'd have to say that compassion rates up there in the top. Especially with all the bad in the world, how can you not feel for other people, we are all one big family as a species.

Everybody is selfish. Nobody does anything altruistic without gaining from it.

For example, christians: they don't "love their neighbor" because it's right, they asskiss their "god" because they "don't want to burn in hell".

Atheists, on the other hand, are a little more honest: We help others because it makes for a better society, following the unwritten "social contract" that all societies are based on.

Any time someone does something for others, they are invariably doing it for their own benefit in some way. More important is the reason we help others: You can't protect yourself when you're asleep.

You can live lawlessly, but somebody will slit your throat during the night, or you can live cooperatively and reap the benefits of society. That is the sole reason anybody does anything to help others.

Except Hinduism and Buddhism, no religion (particularly abrahmic religions) have no compassion for other faiths

See in YA all christians and muslims, condemning all those who dont believe in their faith...to go to hell.

so people are lying here..saying they have compassion for all people

They dont even tolerate non christians/muslims what to talk of compassion

Christian - 2 greatest commandments (short version)
1 Worship God
2 do to others as you want them to do to you.

sounds like 2nd most important thing in my religion.

I apologize for all the other Christians who pay back hatred and anger, with hatred and anger on this site
