Humanity (particularly us Americans) is raping the the world's natural resources at an alarming rate. But, "run out of natural resources in 50 years or less"...I doubt that is true.
You'd best learn to conserve on our resources, though, and if that means driving a hybrid...well, do it! Hybrids aren't terribly wonderful to look at, but that will change. In the meantime, do your part to conserve natural resources. They won't last forever.

Which natural resources are you talking about?
Not true for coal, glass (silica), limestone, iron, etc
May be marginally true for oil.
Of course we should conserve natural resources but we should not panic about it. Global warming is a bigger problem.
Why would you worry about driving a hybrid in 50 years? Hybrid design and appearance will change at least 25 times by then.

There are two types of natural resources, renewable and non renewable. Renewable resources (trees, corn, fish, etc.) are not in immediate danger, nor will they be if we are careful because, guess what, they can make more of themselves! (hence "renewable") Nonrenewable resources (ie coal) are limited and we will eventually run out. You don't have to drive a hybrid if you are concerned with looks, you could get an electric car like one of the ones in Italy. Those are cool.

Not possible. The statement is too broad. Iron is a natural resource. Soil is a natural resource. Even energy sources abound. Coal is in great supply still, and wood is a renewable energy source. Tell your professor to stuff his doomsday prophesies where the solar panels don't work.

We won't 'run out' in 50 years but there will be considerably less resources to be had and more people!
I This means that your children-maybe your grandchildren won't have to go to the gym because they get to walk everywhere.
And they can thank our generation, our parents and our grandparents and so on....
It's such a shame that we have enough of everything to go around if it was used frugally in the first place. We could have made things in life a little easier...but not gone to the extreme that we have.

Look at the people that exploit the environment! There is way too much packaging on the products that we buy. As for driving a hybrid car, you do not have to...you can WALK!

Everyone has an opinion about is going to happen in 50 yrs or 100 yrs from now. Mostly just to make new talk, leave people wondering and have questions. But Only God knows the future. But its nice to hear peoples opinions cause life would be boring. Its nice to have something new to talk about.

You are more worried about driving an ugly car than using natural resources? Grow up and open your eyes.
I hope you get an F in your course.

It depends on which natural resource he was talking about. Coal? No. Natural gas? No. Oil? Probably.
But don't let that stop you from buying that huge SUV. Guzzle now, die later.
