When the GDP per capita in Mexico is about 1/5 that of the United States. That is the tipping point when it is no longer worth it to most people not to leave their culture, family etc to risk being a second class citizen in another country. There is little that we can do to illegal immegrants to stop them from coming over as long as there is such a huge difference between the standard of living in Mexico and the US.

Not until they are forced to.I hate to say it but if mexico was overthrown by its own people in a civil war ,to try to bring about such a change,I really think our backwards leaders would send troops and financial support to the corrupt mexican officials instead of supporting change. But until anything happens they should be truthful and change Mexico's independance day to "Dependants day"

One more time gokart121 -
they won't and we won't
It's not going to change no matter what anyone thinks as long as the Mexican govt and US business want it to continue.
The wall won't be funded. This is just election BS.
More 'legal' commerce crosses the US-Mexican border than any other border the world. At least until the hypothetical wall is build.
And, if you thinks it is bad now, if Mexico's economy gets any worse there will be, literally a 'land rush' for America like the world has never seen.
I write this on ground that was Mexico's until 1854. I can be in Mexico in 45 minutes. And the estimated numbers put out by the government are low, maybe by half.
We've already been occupied. Better make the most of it because it's only going to go forward anyway.

Yeah , when will the Mexicans stand up and take care of their own country, I mean why waste all that great talent , as builders, carpenters , lawn tenders, fruit pickers , etc, etc, etc, why not go back to Mexico and rebuild their own beautiful cities, and speacial land marks. and charge all turisit what turist's, pay to come here ,and spend their good money why not, monopolize on what they have already learned here. and take it home and become just as rich, or even richer than what they are I guess why Don't all people from other counrtrie's do the same and go back instead of,working here for a pitance. and keep us out of their country as we wish to do.

LOS ANGELES - July 24, 1997 -
(VCT -- Now American Patrol) ---
State Assemblyman, Antonio Villaraigosa (D-District 45)
Majority leader of the California State Assembly,
claims that immigration is the responsibility of California.
Speaking on the radio interview show "Which Way L.A.?"
(KCRW - FM) on Thursday, July 24,
Villaraigosa said,
"The federal government has said
that this issue of immigration isn't a federal issue,
it's a California issue.
Guess what?
California has half the (ILLEGAL) immigrants in the entire nation."
(Notice The DATE On This Article)
.......Together with Assembly Speaker Cruz Bustamante,
who appeared on the same program,
Villaraigosa demanded that California taxpayers
pick up the tab for welfare services to legal immigrants
which has been dropped by the federal government.
"As I recall," said Glenn Spencer,
president of Voice of Citizens Together,
a grass-roots organization opposed to illegal immigration,
"when the Mexicans were fighting Proposition 187
they told us that it was an illegal state scheme
to regulate immigration.
In fact, federal judge Mariana Pfaelzer, their co-conspirator,
used just that language to strike down Proposition 187.
Now they say that immigration is a state issue.
You simply can't have it both ways."
Bustamante and Villaraigosa pledge
to hold up the state budget
until Governor Wilson agrees to pay for food stamps
and other services for the Mexicans.
There is no other way to read this than Chicanos,
including Villaraigosa, are intent on
OVERTHROWING THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

La raza just teaches hate toward the ones that wish for only legal immigration. Mexico likes the free money sent from the US. The don't have to make their country a land of opportunity.

Not when they can get it for free in the US,to his mexican people the president of mexico is like a DEADBEAT DAD,and the problem is that he hasn't heard about the birth control pill, since the government can't produce jobs for it's people, that leaves them more time to create babies, which are now being sent to the US taxpayers.

THey won't, it's cheaper for them this way and Mexico is more of a classist, caste-ish country than America, they feel they are getting rid of their lower caste at our expense. Perhaps if we put a lot more pressure on them it would change their minds, or changed things to make it more profitable for them to uphold their laws.
