if u're talking abt alternative sources of enery,it's those souces of energy which are renewable like sun,wind,trees,tidal energy,hydel energy(energy of moving water) from which power can be generated.Because coal and other fossil fuels will get finished up if they are exploited any further at the same rate at which they are used now,we need to find alternatives to the fossil fuels.So,these are called alternative souces(bcz they give u an alternative).
