Mark 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

IF you are sincere about opening your heart to the bible, aka "God's Word", then, ask Him to help you to stay awake, and help you shut down the thoughts in your head and for Him to open your heart to His Word.
Then, for starter, try reading for 5 minutes at a time, as you are staying awake a little longer, try to read a little longer. Then see what happens!

Try reading it a few chapters at a time with a commentary along side if you want to delve deeply into some of the meanings and want to see some cross references to other events that may have an influence on the big picture. If you find it hard to read the old english versions try "The Message" version which is written in plain contemporary English. You might try reading it when you are less tired too.

Did you know that people devote their entire lives to studying the bible. Do you have any clue how much intense information is in it? Shutting down your brian to read the bible....as witty as I'm sure you think that sounds...is ignorant. Jesus said to love God with all your heart and soul and mind. Christians are called to be intelligent. Why do you think you would be an exception?

I suggest you open your brain to the Bible and see what happens. If you're honest with yourself and the words on the page, your heart just might follow

Get it on tape and listen to it while you sleep.

It serves two purposes, it helps you sleep better (the drone is soothing) and you can claim the "word of God" came to you in your sleep.
