God -"I AM"
Jesus--God in the flesh
Holy Spirit--"Spirit of God "
God is not the author of confusion...but when you get answers from man then confusion can happen because man is one that gets confused quite easily...man is fallible...but God is infallible

The Holy Ghost, The Spirit of Jesus or the Spirit of God is the same "Holy Spirit" that hovers over the face of the deep in the beginning of creation. the problem is, you confuse yourself with terms, you should understand the function, the Spirit performs. Because there are many, and it can certainly not be discerned unless you are a spiritual person.

Hi atreadia, For many, the thought of Almighty God taking up residence in a human body is too incredible to believe. For our human understanding, it is impossible. This question also involves the doctrine of the Trinity (God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are all one God. There are Bible passages that help us understand.
In Matthew 1:18-25, we read about Joseph and Mary. Joseph is visited by an angel of the Lord because he was planning to "put Mary away" because she was pregnant. The angel tells Joseph in verse 20-21 "...for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS (which also means Saviour) for He shall save His people from their sins." This was done to fulfill the prophesy foretold in Isaiah (7:14). Christ is the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 7:14 goes on to say that they shall call his name Emmanuel (this means God with us). This is just one of many passages in the Bible that prove that Jesus is Eternal God.
In Matthew 16:13-16 we read Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ. "When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus is the son.

huh... i'll take a crack at this one... there is a difference actually... the spirit of god is kinda like a messanger that the father and the son use to talk to you... but is a seperate entity without a body... jc has a body and he is the mediator by wich you can get forgiveness and come back to the father and the father keeps things real and is the judge to make sure that no one takes advantage of jc and fake repents becaue he is so nice with forgiveing that their needs to be a disciplinarian to kinda play good cop bad cop i guess okay that was a week analogy... alot of christian's have different views on the specifics but when they say that they are the same they mean in purpose... and will you know... but don't get too hung up on what anyone tells you just read the bible or whatever you are into and find out what makes sense to you. honestly i have a hard time seeing god turning good people away because they thought he was jc or vise versa... he seems pretty understanding to me... just go with the flow sista

If you notice all the comments that everyone has made here for you, I wish they could read there own work when they try to answer your question...but anyway just wanted to try to entertain your question...
God is alone surpreme, Almighty, and all knowing.
The scriptures keep telling the reader that God is alone, he is Almighty and there is no other God before him.
And like you said God is not the author of confusion and you are obsolutely right he is not,
"For God is a God, not of disorder, but of peace" - 1 Corinthians 14:33
As you can see God is not a God of disorder, basically a confusing God, and yes I will recommend you to read the Bible but as you do write down all the scriptures that remind you of the oneness of God, and then when you finish reading the Bible trust me you will be convinced that God is alone and that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are not God!
No where will you read that Jesus himself says he is God,
But of course people will take things out of context
For instance the scriptures in the very beginning says(this will help too when you take notes while you read the Bible)
But in the book of Exodus 33:20 says: "And he [God] added: 'You are not able to see my face, because no man may see me and yet live."
Now keep that in mind and remember "God is not a man that he should tell lies," - Numbers 23:19
Since God does not lie, then what about this scripture and How would you interpet it?
"Jesus said to him: Have I been witn you men so long a time, and yet, Philip, you have not come to know me? He that has seen me has seen the Father. How is it you say, Show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in union with the Father and the Father is in union with me? The things I say to you men {NOW PAYATTENTION TO THIS NEXT PART} I do not speak of my own originality; but the Father who remains in union with me is doing his works." -John 14:9-10
Jesus is living up to what he is, The Word, God's Word or basically God's Spokesman...
Of course there are other scriptures in the Bible that I know that other people will use, out of context, to prove that Jesus is God and so forth but I do highly recommend that you read the Bible and take notes and payattention to what you read and you will see that God is not Jesus or the Holy Spirit but he is Alone Almighty God...
Peace and Peace

Because people thought what they individually believed was the truth. A good answer must be able to quote the writings of the early-generation christians who taught first about the Trinity. But as it happened, the answerers quoted themselves like they're authorities. It's like answering a question on classical physics but Newton's works were not even mentioned.

from your recent questions, and my instincts, I get the feeling you are finding yourself in a spiritual conflict over what you are being told, and your heart, and what you feel to be so spiritually.
this is very natural. and a part of one's spiritual advancement and understanding.
1+1+1 does not = 1. this is the bottom line. all the various excuses, wheel and spokes theory, water comparisons... they are at best, circular reasoning.
1 = 1. one god, is one god.
I've found in most things, there is an understanding of a concept in an "ignorant" and an "enlightened" sense.
to compare to weapons, you have a spear and a rock. then you advance to a rock with a form of propulsion, and a spear with a form of propulsion... then a more refined rock, with a more refined form of accelerating it... then a thin, pointy spear (arrow) with a refined form of accelration... all the way up to missiles and bombs. this leap frogging of understanding, happens in spiritual understanding too.
going from having a separate, relatively weak god representing each thing... because it seems reasonable in that sense. then realizing a higher singular power, but not understanding its true nature, then having a pseudo-divided singular power... then understanding the TRULY singular, ultimately whole unified all encompassing deity,
then the real mind jerk of realizing that the very construction of that unified all encompassing deity is an infinite number of microcosms of itself that are the whole and the infintesimal part all at once(but nevermind that last part yet, one step at a time)
it sounds like your about ready to realize the truth about the distinction between christianity's pseudo-singular god, and the truely ultimately singular all encompassing GOD.
in a simple way it probably looks like I'm reading into things far too much, but I bet it'll make some sense to you, and likely others in a similar place to you.

Instead of asking people on Yahoo answers about the trinity go to the source... God! Read your bible and sincerely pray that God will allow you to understand what the trinity is. The bible says those who diligently seek the Lord will find him.....

because people heard different ideas of what the trinity means when it was explained to them for one. or they heard it and didn't remember the meanings. no it doesn't As it is a living triangle that keeps repeating its self in a clockwise manner.
my religion uses a circle to represent this similar idea that there is no beginning or end just the eternal now that the Creator lives in and that we move from one now to another now around the wheel of life.
look in Ezekiel for the description of what he saw in heaven. such as a wheel within a wheel . one wheel moved by faith and the other by the will of GOD.

John who was definately a prophet of God if he felt the importance of the angel talking to him , he realised that the angels are the holy ghost he fell at his feet but he said worship God becuse i am ......22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard [them]. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which showed me these things.
22:9 Then saith he unto me, See [thou do it] not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
fellowservant of thy brothers - the prophets. Co-worker as the holy Ghost, holy spirit is described.
Evil spirit posses people, we are in trouble because of a group of angels - Lucifer, who is the satan and his fellow angels.
So does the holy ghost.
Old testament mostly is revelation of God the Father- Jehovah,
New Testament is mostly the revelation of God the Son- Yeshua (Jesus),
But as the Book of the revelation of Jesus Christ describes the connection between man to God
1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:
1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
God gave to Jesus, Jesus gave to Angel, Angel gave it to John.
These angels stood with God when there was a division in heaven, war in heaven due to Lucifer.they believed God on faith alone.
