Definition: “A pure substance that can’t be decomposed into simpler substances.”
Chemical Formula: (i.e., the element symbol, but for the sake of compatibility, we call it chemical formula, which is correct anyway).
Atomic number (An integer)

Definition: “A Pure substance that can be decomposed into simpler substances.”
Name (A string)
Chemical formula (A molecular or empirical formula, depending on the subclass).
an element in its simplest form of matter, and in a pure state, contains only one type of atom.e.g.glasses,iodine,bromine,oxygen
a pure substance contains only one type of matter, either one element or one compound and cannot easily broken down into other things.

When speaking in chemical terms, Matter can be placed into three CLASSES. The three CLASSES are (1)Elements , (2) Compounds and (3) Mixtures.

Of these three Classes two are considered to be pure substances. Elements are pure substances and compounds are pure substances. Only one type of "formula unit" are found in these classes. The pure substance is homogeneous and only made from one type of "formula unit"

If you look up pure or pure substance. the term can often be miss-used. Technically pure substance are unadulterated. This sometimes adds confusion to the idea. Since people and sometime industries can speak of pure milk or pure honey. These items are really mixtures and not "pure".

(m)

A pure substance cannot be separated into other substances by any mechanical process. Typical chemical substances found in the home are water, salt (sodium chloride) and sugar (sucrose). Generally, substances exist as solid, liquid, or gas, and may change between these phases of matter with changes in temperature or pressure
