Your doctor will be very happy to give you an HIV test. If a question that embarrasses you arises, just say you weren't sure for some reason about the last one taken. That u want to take one now for your peace of mind. Kimberley Bergalis died of AIDS & she didn't get it through sexual contact, but from her infected dentist who had a cut on his hand & put his hand inside her mouth while working on Kim. She later died. Don't be aftraid of asking for a test. Yesterday, the news said that every blood test in USA will test for HIV soon, as there are probably 250,000 in US who have it & don't know. Doctors LIKE it when people ask for the test. Better safe than sorry.

i dont think theres one person in the world that is not apprehensive about taking the test for HIV. Actually in the news nowadays its common and its recommended. Its good to be on the safe side of things and of course you want to know to be responsible. Some take the test and are not sure if they want to know the results. Go into the office and ask for the test and he/she wont badger you with questions. Say i want to be responsible. Done Deal so go for it ..Its your health. Its your life...

Just tell him that you want to make sure for your own safety reasons.. But if you are a virgin and never had a blood transfusion, than its not neccessary to be tested. Most doctors don't question you on that ? Mine doesnt.. You should feel comfortable about talking with your doctor, and if you don't find one that you can feel comfort in talking to easily.. :) good luck!

If you are not participating in high risk activities you do not need an HIV test. That is not respect for your body...respecting your body would include not participating in activities that would put you at risk for HIV.
Why would you want a blood test you didn't need?

Just the way you put it then. Let him know you're a little over-worried about it for some reason. He knows you'll pay the bill for it..... why should he care - i'm sure he's seen worse cases. Why should you be so paranoid?

You don't owe your doctor an explanation... just tell him you want the test because you are concerned.

Exactly the same way that you explained, there's nothing wrong with wanting to play it safe.
