Christians claim they are following Jesus' example, so why do they build so many churches?
When and where did Jesus himself ever personally construct a building?
And, where in the bible can we find examples of Jesus & his followers constructing buildings?

Jesus went to the Temple, as did his followers.
I hate that when an atheist (me) has to give bible lessons.

If you refer to "spiritual" anything, I have given you a "thumbs down" because you are not answering the question.
I assure you that Jesus did not build a single church building, so if you claim he did, you are incorrect.
Peter is not a building.

Solomon is not Jesus, the Jewish Temple was not a church, and, most importantly, there is very little evidence to support the claim Solomon existed or built anything:

Sorry for the thumbs down, Bill, that was a good answer. It actually made me laugh. But I had already clicked when I read the first few words and couldn't take it back.

In other words, pro, churches are just places for people to gather to get in out of the weather so they can fellowship?
And, have no relation to anything Jesus did?
Wouldn't a barn or warehouse serve the same purpose? And provide far more functionality than a building that is unoccupied the majority of the time?

Jesus even warned his disciples not to follow those who will come in his name and saying he is the Christ (I guess the temples and churches are included among people who come in the name of Jesus) because they are truly the deceivers. They even concocted the word "anti-christ" so anyone who will oppose their existence and their teachings will be called by that name.
Then Jesus himself said too, That Temples so richly adorned and decorated will be toppled down and not one stone will be left on top of another. So, do not worry about the counts. A time is coming it will all be downed and that is not my word but by Jesus himself.

How do you expect there to be buildings in the first 300 years of Christianity when being a Christian was an automatic death sentence? The Romans were throwing Christians to the lions. Honest. It's true. Look it up in any reputable history book.
Jesus did a lot of construction. He was a carpenter for most of His life.
He taught openly in synagogues. Synagogues were buildings. The Temple in Jerusalem was a building. God ordered the construction of the Temple in the Old Testament. There is nothing sinister in this.
Jesus did not command the construction of any building. A church is not a building. A church is a faith community. That is why you can destroy every church building in the world, and you will never destroy the faith of the members.
Matt. 5:14 - Jesus says a city set on a hill cannot be hidden, and this is in reference to the Church. The Church is not an invisible, ethereal, atmospheric presence, but a single, visible and universal body through the Eucharist. The Church is an extension of the Incarnation.
Matt. 12:25; Mark 3:25; Luke 11:17 - Jesus says a kingdom divided against itself is laid waste and will not stand. This describes Protestantism and the many thousands of denominations that continue to multiply each year.
Matt. 16:18 - Jesus says, "I will build my 'Church' (not churches)." There is only one Church built upon one Rock with one teaching authority, not many different denominations, built upon various pastoral opinions and suggestions.
John 17:21 - Jesus states that the visible unity of the Church would be a sign that He was sent by God. This is an extremely important verse. Jesus tells us that the unity of the Church is what bears witness to Him and the reality of who He is and what He came to do for us. There is only one Church that is universally united, and that is the Catholic Church. Only the unity of the Catholic Church truly bears witness to the reality that Jesus Christ was sent by the Father.

"Christians claim they are following Jesus' example, so why do they build so many churches?"
So that we can have a place to learn and fellowship and worship. Jesus didn't need to build any churches because He preached to the Jews in their synagogues. There weren't any "Christians" till some time after He died and they were given that name in Antioch.
As to examples of His followers in the Bible, the early church met in houses or other buildings like a school in Corinth. They were just getting started and facing persecution and they didn't have a lot of money or safety that would have made building churches practical.
Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. 8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. 9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

Jesus never constructed a building. When He talked about rebuilding the temple in 3 days, He was talking about His resurrection. The bible says that our body is the "temple of the Holy Spirit" because His Spirit lives in us.
The only reason there are church buildings is the same that there are mosques and buddhist temples, etc. It's for people to gather.

I don't know how many physical buildings He built or helped to build. I was not born yet and did not know Him when He was alive as a man. You weren't either, by the way, so don't pretend that you have private knowledge of Jesus that the rest of us are not privy to.

I am certain you do not care, but Jesus built one church on the solid statement that He was the God-Son. Since the church exists in the hearts of mankind, buildings are not nor can they be true churches.

I realize you don't care, but the early church met in Christian's homes. Many passages bear this out.
Romans 16:5 Greet also the church that meets in the house of Priscilla and Aquila. Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person in Asia Minor to become a believer in Christ.
Colossians 4:15 Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters in Laodicea. Also give my greetings to Nympha and the church that meets in her house.
If you asked why modern churches do not follow that example, you would have a valid point.

Solomon built the greatest church the world has ever seen! I'd say the ones we construct are like slums in comparison!

We do not need to go to the cross to be crucified either. Following Jesus does not mean that we do all things exactly like Him. I have not built any churches physically...but I have given money to build one. And I am so proud to be part of something like that.

ha ha right. The followers have made a mockery of an omnipotent power by trapping him in Churches and temples.
By closing the God in temples, Mosques and temples humans have made thier life easy.
Its a relief to know that God is not around
- when you are accepting a bribe.
- When you are screwing your best freinds wife
- when you are dropping a bomb from your airplane
- when you are doing drugs
Because you know that god is in church.
