all religions of the world are true as are the gods. hinduism is one of the oldest religions of the world. the starting of this religion overshadows the religions of the west--viz., christianity which was formed in the first century after the resurrection of christ, the islam is formed in 7th century a.d. and had very few people in them till the 10th century a.d.
now i wish to tell Mr. capn edib that both the above religions try to grow by converting the other sects by brutal force or power/influenze only. by religious tolerance we mean not converting to another but accepting other religions. we mean tolerant to humanity.if you have read the poet chesterton he in one of his poems will describe a man who is taking on his shoulders a lot of of load, he becomes to handle a load double of his own weight, then a small feather on top of his load will make him fall down, it is something like this happened in our country.
we as india have faced the raids of invasions by muslim population who wanted to grow islam in this country, 90% of the muslims in our present day population are converted hindus, then came british occupation where many of our people got converted as christians. the beauty is gods who were born later
are finding more people who join that religion and try to find peace with their position, they don't believe the faith in which they were born, they do it with the above religions from the west freely because they get monetary or other sorts of safety definitely not because of the religious gods sanctity, as i say it the numbers add just mass to those religion but nothing for peace or sanctity
of the people.
the situations Mr.capn edib has shown in his reply ofcourse shows that in india many things are against other religions in the recent past few decades but i'll tell you one thing the reason for all the happenings.,ie, the hindu sect has shouldered all the blows created by the west right from the days of gajni mohammed, babur, akbar, shahjahan , aurangazeeb ., etc.,etc by attacking the religion of hinduism and trying to spread islam by unethical practices and dastardly means.
the same things with the british occupation ,spreading their tentacles by unruly measures through a wicket gate.
100% of indian muslims and christians at present are definitely from hindu ancestors only, what is worrying the hindus is that extra load of the feather being placed on their shoulders .,viz.,
the al umma, alqaieda, simi terrorists bulldozing indians and curches extended hands on hindu population wishing to convert even animals which they eat to christianity.
ie., the christians all over the world want christ to be reborn if christian population fills the world, muslims feel that muslim population should fill the world for the world to remain peacefull, and hindus are left in the middle of the scene with nowhere to heed to.hindus are being compelled to retaliate to the attrocities of these 2 western religions committed in india right from 14th century onwards. so it is in this essence it is painfull to visualise that history cannot be blamed but it has to be replied no, that is the reason for the damages which occurred in india since the past few decades. chesterton was right for a potentially tolerant sect the breaking point is 6 centuries of hardships.
even now no religion has taken continuous drain for six centuries at a stretch like hinduism. i believe in all the gods but am proud to be a hindu, the religion with highest tolerance towards other religions though they do continue their unethical traits in converting mere numbers when we don't try to convert any other religious sect to follow hinduism. so the breaking point of hindus have come in india.
but india is great because there are pious people who think every religion is great and believe in all the gods. this sort of a set up you won't get in any country provided the government attend to the policy of treating minorities and majorities with the same values. a common law code for all the religions alike, don't divide the religions and don't split the people.
also other religion indians make good use of democracy and think and vote not in groups but as individuals, then such an intolerance would be avoided in our country, india.

Dear Akash,

Everyone draws the circle of US and THEM. US are always good and those who are clearly evil "among US" are not following what "WE" are supposed to do, but, we support them any way because they are "US".

THEM are always flawed, if not down right evil or at least substantially mistaken on their take of life.

This alone is consistent across the board for all groups that define themselves at whatever level. When you define an US, you have excluded others, unless you define US in the most inclusive way. In Islam the largest US is creaturehood. All creatures are on the US side of the spectrum, while the CREATOR, OUR CREATOR is on the other side of the Great Divide. When you have such an US defined at the outset, there is no room for exclusivity. However, you have to confront the fact that this larger US has smaller WEs, which ultimately boils down to I as an individual. If the outlook is larger, then you are inclusive, with definitions or stages going up the steps of exclusivity. I hope this is making sense so far.

It is clear that there are good and evil ones among the Hindu folks as among others. If you think about the hoodlums who regularly murder the defenceless Muslims in one city after another all over India, with the police helping or watching from the sidelines know that not all Hindus are innocent. Many high ranking officials in such States as Gujrat have blood of the innocnet on their hands and shall one day be brought to justice if not in this World in the next.

Muslims are not all innocent either. There are terrorists and trouble makers among the Muslims as among the Christians, Jews, even Budhists. Recently I had read about some Budhists who had murdered some people based on religious differences, which was a total shock to me. In Sri Lanka it seems the Budhists are committing violence too in response to the Tamil Tigers violence (who are Hindus).

So, people who are prejudiced on any and all sides think their group alone is good. People who are more open in their thinking realize that all people are by and large good and all groups have evil people lurking in between them who make the rest of the mankind look better than we are!!

If everyone was a Gandhi, Jesus or Budha, then all of us average folks would be considered criminals and evil. So, thank God for criminals and evil people who make us regular people look better than we are..

I hope this makes sense.

There is only one secular country in the world. India is unique because all the religions in India have strong base. There were clashes between Hindus and Muslims because of the trouble makers in both communities but they are very small in number. Can america have a muslim or Hindu president or any other country in west. Can any islamic country have a president or prime minister from minority community. The answer is no, because minorities in these countries have very little influence, they are tend to adjust themselves to survive in those countries. But in India no one agrees to adjust. That's India

There has never been tolerance in any religion. Hindus are those who lived on the banks of river Indus. Your reference to Hinduism is rather Hindutva. True Hinduism is what every Indian practices in daily life irrespective of the religion.

I hope my comments will not be taken against any religion as I have been taught to respect every religion.

My intention is that there is nothing wrong in any religion, but it is we the followers who try to prove that onLy their religion is the best.

You will be wondered to know that there are basic similarities in every religion. The Vedas teaches us about the only one god like the Quran.

The holy Vedas are required to be learnt by every one so that truth may prevail.
