For me personally, I pray the way of the cross during Lent and the harder times in life. It helps me remember that life is a journey and that no matter how bad things seem, God has a plan and if I keep the faith, there will eventually be something better than I could ever dream.
------- I wonder how many people out there even know WHAT the way of the cross (or stations of the cross) is, much less what it's all about. Cuz it certainly doesn't focus on the cross and, as someone else pointed out, Christians pray to GOD. And yes, that includes Catholic Christians.

Catholics use it during Lent mostly I think, but you can use it at any time I believe. The booklet I have about it has a Biblical way of the cross at the back, for those who are more comfortable with that, for example the first stage gives quotes from John 3:16, Isaiah 53:7 and John 15:13..(Greater love than this no one has, that one lay down his life for his friends...)
I don`t pray it as much as I should...

Christians to not pray TO the cross. Doing that would make the cross an idol which is a sin. The way i look at it, the Cross is a symbol of rememberence of Jesus' ultimate sacrafice.
