It is not about your conduct it is about identity in Him. I/we believe that when Jesus died on the cross that he took the sins of you me and all upon him for payment of the sins that I/we have committed yesterday today and tomorrow. It is the belief that He is the Son of God and that He was born died, was buried and rose again by the power of God. And through this that we no longer liver under Law, (the old testement), but are saved by the grace of God by Jesus's death on the cross. It is the Law that is the standard of God. The standard is perfection and no man is perfect. So by this standard there is no way to enter heaven except through Jesus Christ for as He said " I am the way, the truth and the life, no one may enter heaven except though me. Without this I/you/we are spiritually dead and through belief in Him we become born again spiritually alive. This is truth of God and the belief of Christians. He loves you and wants in heaven with him. GB

People in the old days couldn't understand simple things like
gravity. How do we expect them to have been taught in any way but with stories.
Our Highest Power is opening our minds. Forget the childrens
stories, and apply a little logic. What if we do have some sort of
energy body that lives on a multi-dimensional level. It has
telepathic and empathic ability. A bond of some type.
And there are forces at work like magnetism, that can pull one toward a creative aspect in reality, or a destructive one. More like a cosmic recycler than hell.

I was born a Christian but I am now Buddhist. (Not one of the weirdos that hang around airports, shave their heads and dress in robes). Having said that, in Buddhism, we learn that Christ was a great teacher and strove for the betterment of man. The principle difference in our beliefs is that we believe that our life is a path towards perfection and the road is rough and if we fail, then we must learn a lesson again through reincarnation. (We joke that Jesus saves!, Buddha recycles). I really don't see much difference in the perfection of the soul, we have teachings from Buddha that are almost identical to those of Christ.

I think that there was a man named Jesus that THOUGHT he was the messiah. If someone walked on earth tomorrow claiming they were Jesus he would be ridiculed or taken to a mental ward and christians would be the first in line. No one would believe it. So why is it so hard for anyone to understand why atheists don't believe there was a messiah thousands of years ago?

I don't want to understand the teachings of Christ because I don't believe he ever existed and a non-existent being cannot teach anything. The words that others wrote and attributed to him may contain some useful wisdom (although I haven't seen any), but that is not the only words of wisdom in this world, I can assure you.

That's what the Bible teaches, you don't know that to be the truth. You should do more studying on how the Bible came into being, and understand all the things that influenced it. Then you should study scriptures from the Biblical times that weren't included in the Bible. Then you would have a bigger picture and much better understanding.

Without believing in Christ you will never fully understand him. Somethings in the Bible are revealed in God's good time.
While Thu Christ Jesus we are not bound by the Jewish law. Jesus still said to "Keep my Commandments" Because that is God's Commandments not Jewish Law.

Jesus never existed.

And even if he did he wasn't a very good moral teacher.

And there is no such thing as sin.
"The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage?" - Dan Barker (former preacher)
