only for the reason of taking tithes from the masses and distributing the money to those who need it, but dont have it.

of course, you know i detest gold fixtures, red carpets and chandeliers in church, as i think that money could be better used to support the public....oh yeah, it's okay to buy some comfortable pews for church, or at least some cushions for my bony buttocks.

Let me give you some food for thought. My church does not take up an offering. Instead we have a simple box in the auditorium of the school we rent and a note in the program explaining where the offering can be placed. Our church is in the Black financially and we support 5 full time workers and our church programs are not cheap.

Now as to why religion needs money to survive. Have you ever priced the cost of utilities in a large building? What about the cost for the materials in the church services? What about the cost of the facility itself. Even a simple church building is very expensive (take a look at the codes).

Also, most churches have outreach ministries. Most also tithe out a percentage of the offerings to mission projects around the world. They also use this money for outreach projects.

Most churches have benevolence funds, and they do get regular calls (often from people who never attend the services) which use up a lot of that money.

But honesty, love, affection, sex, those do survive but they are done on a person by person basis.

Where a good church is about a community of believers. Not only do I go to church for music and listening to a sermon, but it's also a time to share with others. Find out about their needs and build relationships. That community of believers is what is the difference between a good church and a bad one.

A church can't run on Love, Honesty, Affection, or Sex. It needs money to pay the phone bill, the power bill, the water bill....Yeah they don't get this stuff for free either, someone has to pay the bills. That someone is the congregation in the form of the donations or tithes. And the time, people need to clean, vacuum, teach Bible classes, go out and witness, Sit in the nursery while moms do these things and so on. A church is a community within the community, a gathering of fellow Christians. They work together to make sure the church keeps going.

keep in mind religion is a difference then a person who practices Christianity, as example. You can be a christian if you show other unconditional love and compassion and share what you may have to spare, religion is a organization with a set of doctrines to live up to, and for them to manage the organization and pay them self a nice wealth wage, they need money, If you have desire to join a church that is about religion, think about how the poor is being taking care in their congregation , is the church reaching out to the community , or is the pastor driving around in a brand new vehicle and living in a luxurious home, being provided with all his financial needs and wants, while the poor man sitting in his church has no money for food or a place to live. Money bring on POWER, CONTROl and GREED, the 3 major sins of mankind.

Most religions require donations in order to defray costs for their inner workings and administration. That's what they want us to believe anyway. Not that religion can not survive without it. Religion is not a concept. How can you compare this institution with honesty, affection, love and sex? Honesty, affection and love are attributes. Sex is a female and male duality of biology and reproduction. It would be like comparing apples and oranges.

Religion doesn't require money to thrive.

In fact, in Christianity, Jesus taught that we cannot serve two masters, Him and money. It's either one of the other.

To say religion (at least Christianity) cannot thrive without money would be saying Jesus Himself cannot survive without money!

I have never regretted the amount of money that I give to my church because I know that they are using it to reach people for God, people that I do not even know.

Go not give if you do not want. I only wish I could give more. God loves cheerful givers.

God does not need your money. He wants your heart. And when you give your heart to God, you will gladly open your wallet. That way you are helping others to find the life saving connection with God.

God ask us to give back to Him what He has given us. With the money we send out missionaries to share the gospel with others. When the people get saved, then we get that to our account in heaven. We will get up to 7 crowns with jewels in them. The Lord gave you life. All He is asking is to give back to Him, and trust Him. Is that so hard for people to do?
