I am a Christian, and the answer is no. If I did that, I'd be poor, and then some Christian would have to sell all their stuff and give me the money, and the circle would never end. The best I can do is give what I can when I can and try not to be too materialistic, which I can promise you I have failed at many times.

Many people seem to be missing the point. A lot of people will say that Jesus was only talking to the rich young ruler, not to everyone. Also, many will soften the command and say that Jesus wants you to be willing to give away all you have. This is a misreading of the text.
If one is a literalist, then I suppose they would have to follow the command. Elsewhere in Matthew and Luke, Jesus tells those who wish to follow him to give all that they own to the poor. This is a universal command to all would-be disciples.
Certainly, giving all you have to the poor would then make you poor, but that is not how it was supposed to operate. In Acts, Christians are told to give all that they own to the church. These possessions were then used to benefit the poor as well as ensuring that those in the Christian community would have enough to meet their needs. Many who consider themselves Bible believers also overlook this verse.
I have no problem with people picking and choosing which parts of the bible suit them as long as they aren't hurting other people. What gets under my skin are those who use the Bible as a weapon to judge others and then fail to see the parts of Scripture which condemn them as well. Heaping amounts of grace are needed by all Christians, not judgement thrown at others. Good question.

Yes, if the Lord called me to do that, I would....However, If I or anyone does that and then brags or wants attention for it....exactly as nearly EVERY 'Movie Star' and Musician and politician in the USA does....they go help Katrina or some other disaster and then make sure the cameras see them doing it.......if I sell everything I own...give it to the poor (which at this point wouldnt bring much money)....and do it to Honor the Lord....then I will be blessed ..for HIS glory..NOT mine.....
We are saved by faith, not works: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from youselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do " (Eph. 2:8,9).

I have so very little, having given most of what I owned away. What I have kept is what I need to make a living and to tend to basics. There are things I have kept--and perhaps it will come to pass that Jesus may ask that I give these up as well.

If I had more, yes I would. I wouldn't want to be driving fancy cars, living in huge houses, wearing expensive clothes, etc. if I knew people were starving down the street from me. As it is, we're struggling financially. (One income which comes from a young small business, and feeding three children on that income.) Whenever we have extra, we do donate to charities.

You are lacking wisdom of the Word I see. Go back and read again what your question is about. This time ask God to please forgive you your many sins through the Blood of His Saviour Jesus Christ. Then being pure of heart ask that God would send His Holy Spirit to enlighten you to the Truth contained in His Word. When you get the Truth come back and resubmit the question that has the wisdom for us to answer.><>

I think what Jesus was asking was that we have a willing and generous heart, to be willing to help our brothers and sisters in accordance to what they stand in need of - spiritually as well as physically. True charity is not just giving "stuff" - it's learning how to listen to people and building them up and supporting them in their daily lives. It's learning how to treat others as well as you treat yourself (hopefully your self-esteem is high enough that you see others as precious children of God, the same as you).
