Transatlantic airfares from North America to Europe, are priced according to season. It is cheapest in winter (Nov-Mar, except around Christmas), most expensive in summer (Jun-Aug). Outbound date determines fare season, so you will be much more likely to get a cheaper ticket with departure late May, rather than departure late June.

Icelandair began serving SFO in summer 2005, and is a good bet to have the best fare. You should begin looking for prices right away, and check fares at least twice per week. I would book no later than March, and sooner if you find a really good fare (like under $700rt). Icelandair usually have a "gift certificate" sale in December for travel in the upcoming year, so check their website.

This summer, there were some incredible deals to Manchester, England from USA. Last summer, there were incredible deals to Bristol, England. Not sure which will be the best deal for summer 2007 travel, so watch for sales with sources like Travelzoo and Smarter Travel.
