If there is an AIDS center near you, they offer no questions asked HIV testing. i am almost positive that the doctor would let you take a test just for knowing your own well being, they would rather be safe then sorry.

Speaking in terms of my country, HIV testing is done anonymously and freely and you can do it as many times as you want.

However i cannot understand why you would want to do it frequently. If you are indulging in risky sexual contacts, why continue? I can understand a mistake once but not repetition of it. The test will only tell u if you have HIV or not, and as i'm sure you are aware, presently there is no cure, only therapy to delay the consequences. Taking therapy for life is also no joke, the medicines have to be taken precisely at the same time regularly, you have side-effects and they are quite a few...it is not a comfortable way of living, although infinitely preferable to having AIDS.

The best thing would be to use condoms regularly. Apart from AIDS there are a wide variety of STDs which you can get and its always best to protect yourself! While i by no means want to judge, being very promiscuious is also dangerous behaviour.

However do not obsess about it either...the probability of getting HIV from a handshake is just about zero! He/She would have to be severely bleeding and you too for it to be called a risk factor, so don't worry too much over it :)

Good Luck, I hope all is well for you :)

I don't think there is a guideline for how often is "too often", but if you feel like you need one frequently, then you should change your habits. That is really scary! I don't think you would get it from shaking hands with someone. If they had an open, draining wound and you had a wound and those both touched, then maybe you could catch it, but that is such a longshot.

please remember that the test is not a preventive measure, it (the test results) only tell you if you have the virus or not. try to reduce your risk of coming into contact with those high risk fluids if you really want to have piece of mind. most clinics will allow you to be tested without a hassle.
