Every relationship has "rules" no matter if it is a romantic one, a friendship or a business relationship. The rules are called "boundaries". And they are there because if you don't have boundaries set up in your relationships, people would just take advantage of the other....doesn't matter what kind of relationship. For example: If you have a business relationship (a job) you have to show up on time, do the work required or you will lose the job. In exchange your employer pays you for the work you do. If you excel in your work, you are rewarded with a pay raise. Each person at your workplace is required to do the same...even your boss. And each person there must treat everyone there with courtesy and respect. Same goes for a romantic relationship. There must be boundaries set and respected by both parties, or the relationship will not work. For example: no cheating, no lies, no verbal, emotional or physical abuse.

When you make rules for your man, then you create a situation where you are the ruler and he is the ruled. It's an unequal relationship that your man is bound to resent sooner or later.
If you want to avoid trouble in your relationship later on, then I suggest that you scrap the rules and make an agreement with your man on equal terms.
An agreement on equal terms means that you agree to apply the same rules to your behavior as he applies to his. And if for some reason you need to make an exception for yourself, then he should be able to do the same in similar circumstances.

Umm rules are fine but i think that you comming first befor his friends and family is a bit harsh and could put a damper on the relationship. You should be able to spend time with him you shouldnt block him off from his friends tho.!

The only rule there needs to be in a relationship is that the woman is in charge.
After all haven't you heard the saying: Marriage is a relationship where one person is always right and the other is a husband.

No it is not wrong. I gave mine about 3 and if he ever breaks them I'm outta here. Besides you need to let him know ahead the stuff you are NOT going to put up with. Mines still around and hasn't broke the rules yet so if he really loves you he will support this rule.

As long as it is mutually agreed to, there is nothing wrong with having rules. It clears the air as to what is expected of each other. As long as the rules go both ways, then it is all good. However, if the rules is oppressive and one way, then it is all wrong shouldn't agreed to.

Well, wait until you have kids, then you won't feel that way.
Also, if he's religious, then God should come before you.
My wife and I don't have rules, just respect for one another. If you have that, you don't need rules.
