I wanna have a Great Dane to be part of my family after I move to my new home(around Oct). I've searched online and I'm goin to the pound this weekend. There are some adorable puppies on puppyfind.com My question is that is it secure to buy a nice puppy on those website such as puppyfind.com ?
(They said they have Registered/registerable (AKC, NKC, etc.), Current vaccinations, Veterinarian examination, Health certificate)
Is that possible that they are faking?
What are the other ways to get a Great Dane puppy?

consider going to petfinder.com and adopting a dog, puppies are great but need to be let out every 1-2 hours to learn " i pee and poop outside" or they can get in the habit of going on the floor, unless you dont work, this can be hard to do. whatever you do dont go to a petstore, it is a terrible industry. look for a reputable breeder who lets you see the puppies parents, at least the mom, and they should offer some type of shot/deworming information.

If you are willing to spend time with a new dog or puppy, and have the room in your home for a large dog, then a Great Dane is a good choice. I think a wonderful way to obtain the breed you want, plus save a needy animal is to rescue one from either a shelter or a Great Dane rescue group. You can do a search and find one in your area on line.

When you "buy" a puppy from an unknown source, you are taking chances on many things going wrong...one of which is that they sometimes originate from puppy mills. They are cruel places where puppies are "mass" bred living in filthy conditions, and most are ill and not destined for a long, happy life. These"breeders" are only in "milling" for the money, and care nothing about the well-being of the animals. So before you buy from a pet store or an unknown breeding source, please check out the rescue groups. It is a win-win situation for all! Best wishes in your Great Dane search.

I have a Great Dane, and you are making a wonderful choice. They are really great dogs. Even better than getting a dog from a breeder, try rescuing a dog. Google "Great Dane Rescue" and find a rescue center in your area. You can also do a nationwide search on http://www.petfinder.org Really think about a rescue dog. You may not be able to get a young puppy, but you'll be saving a life and gaining a friend forever. My dog is a rescue, and we are both happy that we found each other.

I'd look for a puppy from a professional breeder, or go look in the pound. But if your looking for a "puppy" then I'd go for a breeder. To make sure the web sites you go on are "secure to buy a nice puppy" look around the web site, or read the puppies description and see if they seem to be inept in the whole breeding concept, so sorry I couldn't help you more Good Luck finding a puppy!

Before buying a dog, check your shipping charges.
My exp.; several years ago I bought a AKC Parti-color Cocker Spaniel female ($1000.00), 2 years old from a well known show kennel out of state. I was told she had had 1 litter of pups about the time I bought her. Once she was finished w/the pups, she was shipped to me. When she got here I carried her into my vet & had her gone over. Funny thing was her utters were just to flate to have nursed a litter of 6 pups. I called her & she asured me she'd had pups. When she came into heat, I bred her. We had to go a c-section. My vet said her pelvic bones were to small to free whelp. SO YES SOME PPL WILL LIE!
Why buy a dog & take a chance? There are alot of very nice pups/dogs in pounds waiting for loving homes. If not adopted out, they wait the gas chamber.

The dog pound works or anti-cruelty society. Newspapers are good. If you go to a breeder, see if there is a dog with some minor problem (like an over-bite, etc.) that would interfere with them being show dog quality; these dogs should be less expensive.

Check with local vets and your local ASPCA..they will know if a breeder is on the up and up..I recently went looking for a puppy too and found that some of the breeders in my area had been arrested for neglecting their dogs, thanks to my local ASPCA I didn't make a wrong choice..I'm still looking. Our Local ASPCA also has these adopt a days and we can adopt a puppy who has had its shots, wormed, neutered and has a chip for relocating..check your area.Good Luck

You should go / ask the animal shelter of your city. They have plenty of animals for adoption. They are followed by veterinaries and have health certificates and you are not encouraging puppies TRAFFIC.

Look in the paper or a dog pound, you never know you might find what you want or better.
