his foot. He is eating, his stool is normal, he is active and there doesn't seem to be any undigested seed in the saliva or stool. What could this be?

Maybe he has something stuck in his beak or mouth. Is his beak too long? I bought my birds a rough perch made for them to be able to rub down their beaks and claws. It works great and they love to use it. I would consider taking your bird to a vet.

Birds' beaks are designed to save growing; in the experience that they did not, eventually birds ought to finally end up with no longer sufficient beak to eat because it ought to get all worn down. better 1/2 and toddlers birds do not get extremely sufficient organic friction on their beaks to save them from growing too a lot. Get him a cuttlebone. that's a white chalky aspect that you'll be able to carry on the bars of his cage, and it is going to save his beak whittled down properly. My kinfolk had cockatiels at the same time as i changed into an adolescent and we continually were given them cuttlebones. They artwork very well. We in no way had to trim their beaks.

I don't have an answer but I am hoping that maybe you figured out what was wrong with your cockatiel? My cockatiel has been doing that same thing as you described, he does it so much that he cuts the inside of his mouth, causing him to bleed :( he has to be supervised 24/7 so that he doesn't hurt himself. I have taken him to several bird veterinarians and they have done multiple test on him but all tests come back negative. He is said to be a healthy bird. Thank you.

sound to me ther is some irritation in his beak. and the saliva could that be drainage from an infection. get your baby to a vet, it could just be a irritiation. If you had something stuck in your lip that you couldnt get out you would go to the doctor.

i have had tiels for a long time and have never seen that behavior. if the bird seems healthy it may not be much to worry about. type cockatiel care into your browser and several sites will come up that give info on their care. several even have forums where you can ask experts questions.

Cockatiels do not generate saliva. You have a sick bird. Get him to the vet!

He is regurgitating his food, but don't worry, all hookbills do this. Most do this with a mate. It shows their love, but they will also so this with people to their horror sometimes, also showing they love you, LOL!! but sometimes you will see one feeding it's perch or favorite toy or just by themselves Don't worry, he's fine!!!
