My mom and I bought some cactus pears at a local farm market. We had never seen them before. Does anyone know where they are grown for marketing?

If you are talking about the fruit of the prickly pear, its called a tuna and is filled with the most ungodly slime I have ever run across. Throw them away, they are nasty.

Try this website. http://www.rain.org/greennet/docs/exoticveggies/html/pricklypear.htm

It may also link you to recipes. Taste is in the mouth of the eater ( to mutilate a saying)

The fruit isn't oftentimes seen, although after flowering it does have one. we can consume the flat fleshy leaf... quite hard and would not flavor all that super (or an obtained flavor). I never tried eating the fruit.
