for all those who have/had mono.. how long do u have to stay out of sports for, until your allowed to play again?

It depends on how sick you are with your mono. If you don't currently have a fever and are just feeling tired and run down, probably a few weeks. If you have an enlarged spleen because of the mono, absolutely no contact sports until the spleen has returned to normal. A contact sport could rupture the spleen and then you would need emergency surgery. The best thing is to rest and allow your body to heal. The longer you push, the longer is will take to feel better from the mono. You also have to watch that you don't get streph throat. That is a common side affect. Your immune system is weak right now, so you don't want to be around anyone who is sick.

my son was hospitalized for mono. he was out of commission for about 2 and a half weeks.

After you have tested blood positive for it, our body will tell you. Could be over two months.
