I have an essay due monday and I have the whole weekend for it. But I would like to complete it tonight but I just can't seem to get started!
I find it very hard to start on an assignment or a chore. I always tend to put things off until the next day. As a result, I often find myself doing poorly on my school work or task. What motivates you? How do you set your alarm at 5:00 for morning exercise and actually following through?

You just have to push yourself harder. You need good grades to get accepted to a good college. If you're not in college, how will you expect to pass if you can't keep up w/highschool. And if you're in college, it'd be good to keep up w/your grades so you can have a nice profession later on in life. I push myself hard because I want a nice life for my future family. I am lazy but I know that I need to study and do well if I want to make money and not be flipping burgers at mc donalds.

As a fellow procrastinator, I understand where you come from. In college, I waited till the day before i had a 18 page essay due to get started on it. I finished it about three hours before the class started and then i had to do a presentation on my essay topic that morning. I made an A on it. So the moral of the story is that you just have to get good at procrastinating, make sure that you will perform under pressure, if you cant do that, then hurry up and start now or your gonna fail.

First off you are unrealistic in your mindset. If you approach the task with the idea that you can finish tonight you'll never get started. Knowledge is power. Do you know your subject? Put together what you have beginning, middle and conclusion. Tonight begin with your intro, then move forward to topics of interest, what ideas you will intro into the first few pages, enough for the night. feel good about your intro don't race to the finish. tomorrow move on to specific topics keep in it within reason to much topic not enough info simply has the reader confused. Sunday finish up with your conclusion, any colouring maps etc. Your done! Good Luck

I could procrastinate for the U.S so i shouldn't be talking. But what helps me is sitting down and putting a time limit, I'll say ok im gonna work until 11 am then i can go to the mall, but come home at 3 pm SHARP then work till 7, and take a 1 hour break (exercise, bake, keep busy) and finally sit at 8 pm and work till 10pm it seems harder then it is. Good Luck!

you have to find some motivation inside yourself...think about it and figure out if that's what you really want and if it is then there shouldn't be a problem. on the other hand i do the same thing and its hard but when you put your mind too it the first 3 or 4 days, it will be hard, but after that its just another thing and it will become part of your everyday life...hope i helped, good luck

I tend to do the same thing - putting things off to the last minute. The only thing that I do is to realize that I shouldn't be doing it and force my self. YOu have to also realize that you will do better in school etc. and just make your self to what you have to do when it should be done. No one is going to help you do it, you have to do it on your own. You will get up and exercise if you really care about your health

By simply stopping. I know this sounds obvious, but it is true. Pick a small task and do it. Keep doing that until you no longer procrastinate. It's all your choice, your will and your own self discipline here. We can do anything that we need to do. Just do it. If you really want to change you will. If you don't than you won;t. It's really that simple. Guts, and will power and accountability and responsibility and will power!

Look at behaviorism and the studies done by BF Skinner. You can set up a reward system to encourage you to do the work.

The answer for procrastion is to just stop it and get some energy to do what needs to be done. You can do it. Just put whatever else you have to do aside and work on what needs to be done. You can do it just set your mind to it.
