There were once upon a time. In fact at least 20 states had Fornication laws.
But the Liberals have abolished most of these, which I'm in favor of and I'm a Christian.
These things should not be laws of man, but things religious people should not do on their own accord.
Making a poltical law out of something imposes will upon everyone.
Protestants are in favor of divorce. That's one of the founding block of the religion.
THe idea is you're suppose to read the bible and be reponsible for yourself. If you get to the gates and God say no go because you got divorced, you can't say no one told me if you're a christian. It's right in there. Jesus re-affirmed it.
Jews allow for divorce in their religion.
Governmental laws are supposed to protect everyone equally and not hurt the minority.
Atheists, agnostics, gays, Jews and Christians can all agree that robbery or theift is wrong.
They cannot all agree divorce is wrong

Because most Christians that use this forum are Cafeteria Christians. The go through the Bible and pick and chose the particular Scripture that justifies their particular prejudice. Once selected , they hold it on high and tell you that they are not a bunch of bigots, just Christians faithfully following the word of God.
BS If they 're going to believe in Leviticus 18 which lists sexual do's and don'ts including the prohibition of male homosexual relations , then they must also believe in Leviticus 11 which basically describes Kosher and non Kosher animals
They don't
If they chose to be against abortion because they honestly believe that human life is sacred then morally they must also be against war and capital punishment. Not to do so puts them in an Orwellian limbo land where some life is more sacred than others.
As I said Cafeteria Christians

Great question. The Christian right is pushing for laws against gay marriage. Here in VA, people of this same mentality are pushing a bill to be voted on in Nov. that not only defines marriage as between a man and a woman, but also limits the rights of unmarried people who live together, single mothers, etc. Frightening.
Yet they push for these types of amendments and Christians support them since they think it is in the Bible. If this is so, then they should also pass laws that prohibit gossip, that prohibit women from wearing jewelry, and they should push to impose a hefty tax on the wealthy that would require them to give most if not all of their wealth to the poor. All of these things are in the N.T.
Just as an aside, the Bible never really condemns committed people in homosexual relationships. The Levitical Code where we find 2 admonitions against homosexuality is the same Code that outlaws wearing clothing that is woven of different fabric, not having sex with your wife while she is menstruating, not sowing 2 kinds of seed in one field, leaving a remnant of your produce for the poor and alien and also advocates stoning obsenate children to death. Yet many conservative Christians maintain their condemnation against homosexuality while ignoring much of the rest. Consistency is the issue.
As it relates to the N.T., no one is sure what the Greek words mean that many translations render as 'homosexual' or 'sodomite.' The first term, 'arsenokoitai' is found only in lists both in the Bible and in literature of the same period. There is no context to derive a precise meaning in lists, thus, the word cannot be nailed down. It is most likely a compound word, and its component parts point to some kind of male sexual immorality, but that is about where we have to stop. Paul could have been talking about male temple prostitutes, male rapists, abusive men who engage in sex with men or women, etc.
The second term, 'malakoi' simply means effeminate men (literally 'soft men'). Some may point to this and say it means 'gay,' but this is jumping the gun again. Effeminancy in the first century was defined much broader than we would use it today. It referred to men who acted like women, but also included crying in public (other than mourning), doing household chores, taking primary responsibility for children, talking with women in public, etc.
Thus, to assert that the N.T. admonishes homosexuals is misleading, it does not, at least as far as we can tell. It seems dishonets and cruel to exclude anyone for any reason, but especially so when the supposed biblical prohibitions against you are so suspect in meaning.
I hope this helped some. Sorry for the long post, but there is a lot behind your question, I felt it merited a thought out answer.

There have been women born with testes. Unless you've walked in someone else shoes, how can you judge. If that was someone in your family, would you rather they kill themselves because of the pressue. What about humanity? Christ was good to other people. Where is this love in Christianity? I'm so glad I'm straight, but since I've never been there, how would I know to judge? What about all the child predators living in your neighborhood? Instead of judging, what are you doing to help humanity? You can't force your believe down people throats. If people could come out inot the open, it's less a chance that you or your daughter would marry a gay man, have you ever thought about that? God is the Judge. Not man. This is kind of like the Islam religion - think like me - or you are ostrisized. We live in a free country. Religion rules to much already. I think children need guidance, but I wouldn't want to loose one of my family, because we were so judgemental, they took their own life, and this happens all the time. Who made you people, God, Judge, and Jury of Mankind? I thought that was up to God to do? Where is the Love? All I hear is Haters, because people fear what they don't understand. Men wrote the Bible. Why don't you go live on a Omish Farm or something, do you think it's any better there? They have insest. I've seen just as much wrong doing with church people, as I have with others. God gave me a brain to use it, to me good to other people. That's humanity.

Oh, but they are! They were, anyway. In many Catholic countries divorce was outlawed till very recently. Here, in Argentina, if you got married to the wrong person, you had to stay with her for life (or else separate and live the rest of your life without another wife) till 1987, whether you were a Catholic or not. After that, they found it too difficult to keep on the charade, and they had to give in. In Spain, I think the date was 1981. Argentina had the "privilege" to be the seventh to last country to pass the law.

They are already on the books. And they are represented in the 10 commandments, however the same people who promote gay marriage are the same ones who struck down the divorce laws and adultry laws and the laws which define a marriage. The next law to be changed will be the age of consent law and then you will see men marrying little boys and girls....it is a slippery slope.

I know, however in this "world" it has become so casual, no one wants to stand up against divorce and what not. Gay marriage is a relatively "new" thing and since it is new, more people speak out against it. People have been commiting adultry for centuries in secret or in the open. It is too common to fight. We should fight it.

A sin is a sin. i often wondered as a Christian myself why this is true. It comes from not being able to love one another and judging which I know should be left up to God. I don't agree with gay marriage, but I would NEVER hate anyone that is gay or enter into a gay marriage. i want to be treated kindly no matter what faults or sins I have committed.

There are laws against those. I believe gay couples should have a civic partnership that grants all the rights of marrage. I don't agree that is should be called marriage.

On those grounds they should be seeking laws against sex before marriage (that one exists in Georgia) and masturbation as the bible condems practicers of either.
