Don't think you have tried a baking soda rinse. Make up a little baking soda water, and rise her hair with it. Use a bowl to collect the rinse, and rerinse several times. The essensial oils in the herbs and spices should dissolve with this.
Baking soda neutralizes odor, and if it can keep mild and butter in your fridge fresh, it can help her hair.

Use a clarifying shampoo by pantene. I use this shampoo once a week to get my hair squeaky clean. It basically just gets rid of any product or stuff in the hair. Be sure to really massage the scalp and really work it in the hair. It should work. Also, condition it because her hair probably has had some damage due to all the washings.

Hair is like a sponge. Smell really stays trapped in in.
If you really have to get it out, use a lot of prolonged washing. Swimming pool helps too if swims for like an hour the smell will get fainter. It will take several more washes.
Ah, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. It will faint away by itself. Sounds like she's a little girl and you don't want to damage her hair by all those crazy chemicals like ammonia.

I used to be a swimmer and we had chlorine get in or hair all of the time. The trick that we used to get rid of that smell was to wash with baking soda. Just mix it in with some shampoo and wash away!
I might also suggest that you get swimmers shampoo and wash with that and then wash with alcohol. Like I always say,...just keep trying. Soem other things that you can possibly try are mint julep toner, cinnamon, and any other spice that you can get your hands on that wont cause you to go broke!

Baking Soda rinse should work. I use Baby Shampoo....Johnson and Johnson works best. I used to have a friend who chained smoked and even if she went outside to smoke, I still came home smelling like a chimney. A quick shower with J&J Baby Shampoo and you couldn't even tell.
