GOD is unconditional LOVE,GOD pronounced everything GOOD. It is our own bad actions and faulty concepts that cause us problems These circumstances cause us to turn to GOD.

Many things in the bible were given to less evolved humanity,on a level they could relate to. even today many people do not comprehend "metaphysics" or "spiritual law that governs what you put out is what you get back"

A sense of good & evil is a human illusion,GOD pronounced his creation GOOD therefore why would he punish good.WE are the ones who pulled these veils of illusion between ourselves & GOD,we do have to remove them ourselves.GOD has never lost sight of his perfect children.

God punishes people all of the time. You don't know Him, you worship an idol, a god of your own making. I believe in the God who has revealed Himself in the Bible and throughout history who tells us that He is holy and righteous and that He will not let the wicked go unpunished. He is long suffering and patient and not wanting anyone to die but after a while if someone continues on in their evil He brings down the gavel and that's that.

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21 "But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live.

23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?

Immediately in the Book of Genesis, the first two people He said He just created was punished by sending them both out of the Garden of Eden. What do you mean by He is unconditional Love?
Do you expect LOVE to be tolerant of everyone's misbehaviour? Do not make you own kind of God. He really punishes. He gave us two things...Blessing and Curse.. If we do all the thing He commands he will give us His blessings, If we turn away from Him and disobey His commands, for sure there will be curse.
Now, we make our own lives, we decide on things according to our best judgement, but if there are times bad things happen, maybe our judgement were not just right.
God being good goes in the way, "IF YOU ARE SORRY AND TURN BACK TO HIM, THEN HE WILL FORGIVE AND EVEN FORGET WHAT YOU HAVE DONE AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW HIS COMMANDS" That's how easy it is for him to forgive. What probably is the unconditional Love you are saying is our love to God. Up to what conditon do you think you can love Him? Will you still love him if He allows Satan to bring miseries into your life like Job?

Why is it that Christians can not accept that God is responsible for all the good / bad in life.
Taking from my opinion after reading most of the bible
1) God created mankind
2) God gave us thought and free will, with out instructions
3) man with his free will wrote the bible, using term he could associate with at the time.
4) Most people at that time could not read & their understand wre no match for the educated scholars & took what they were taught as truth.
5) God plan as I understand is to get the population to a high level of thought, thurgh evaloion

Of course God punishes disobedient ones.
Why did the Israelites have to walk the desert for forty years?
Why were Sodom and Gormorrah destroyed?
Why were ten plagues bought on the Egyptians?
Why was Moses not able to see the Promised Land?
Jehovah God is always ready to forgive repentent wrongdoers.However,he does not protect them from the consequences of their actions.The Bible tells us that "whatever a man is sowing,he will also reap"So yes, Jehovah God is love,but he does punish those who are deserving.

You are correct. God never punishes us but he will withhold his blessings if we do not measure up to what he expects from us. To whom much is given much is expected. This refers to those who are more enlightened in the gospel are expected to do right more than those who know little about God and if we don’t then the blessings withheld are sometimes taken for punishments. Some bad things happen to humanity to serve as a warning or sign that we are not doing what we should be doing but it is not a punishment. When the bad things start happening to us then the righteous will again turn to God for help and he is always present extending his arms to us in loving kindness and forgiveness.

Do you know the rain falls on the wicked and the righteous and in fact there is no causal relationship whatever between violating the religious taboos of the Bible and negative consequeces for the sinner? The wicked prosper and the good die young because it's just all random dude.

God pronounced everything good in genesis 1:31 after He created everything but before the rebellion in heaven and in the garden in Genesis chapter 3.

Once Adam denied his reliance on God and made himself his own law maker the rebellion against God on earth began and God cursed the man, woman, earth, and the serpent. Here is part of the curse taken from Genesis 3:17:

)Cursed is the ground because of you;
In toil you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
18"Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;
And you will eat the plants of the field;
19By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust you shall return."

The fact that you will one day die is an indication of God's punishment on man. But even worse is the eternal destruction awaiting those who do not love the Lord Jesus.

Matthew 10:28
"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

You can't quote Genesis 1:31 and ignore the rest of scripture. Hell is real and God will deal out retribution to all flesh that does not know Him.

Read 2 Thess 1:6-9
For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

These verses should clear up any misconception about God's certain coming wrath and present curse on this world.

uh no...

God does punish us...

he is our FATHER

what good father wouldn't punish their children when they do bad things...

doesn't mean hes going to kill your friends and famiy...

it does mean if you do something wrong, he might let you stub a toe, or let your car get slightly damaged...

and he'll tell you when it happens, right then...

listen closer...

God is of love, but punishment is not of the devil.

The angels where punished when they fell and and lustful relationships with humans.
