I have never heard that before or my family and friends who where with us. Could it be maybe just in that friends family or is it really a tradition.

No such luck! Traditions are bunch of mallarky... people do what they can do for you.. Expecting them to do anything because of some stupid tradition is just setting yourself up for dissappointment.

I have never heard of that at all and no i dont believe it is true. Tradition wise, the groom's side usually pay for the reception. Im not married as yet, but am engaged. I've talked about it with both sides of the family and we are all putting something into it. That way there are no arguments and ppl dont feel like one is sacrificing more than the other.

Congrats and hope everything works out for u!

No way, but that would be nice. According to modern day American traditions...

The bride's parents pay for the wedding and reception.

The groom's parents pay for the rehearsal dinner.

The groom pays for the honeymoon, but by the time the bill arrives it's really both the bride and groom's money, so they both pay for it.

Here's a link to a pretty extensive list of who's expected to pay for what. This list goes far beyond what I've listed above.

They say that the father of the bride was to supposed to pay for the wedding and in my case, my parents didn't have it. My husband and I paid our own way even for the honeymoon. I never heard of anyones parents paying for the honeymoon. If they give it as a wedding gift, then ok...but its not a tradition. Not where I come from anyway.

Brides family pay for the wedding
Honeymoon usually paid for by the bride and groom, no tradition for the parents to pay, unless they do so as a wedding gift to the married couple....sorry

That's true. Believe or now, most of countires agree that groom's parents to pay for honeymoon. They will arrange where is the place for it, and how many days if less or over the month.

Of course that is not true. The couple should pay for their own wedding and honeymoon.
