My fiance and I have 2 children already and we're discussing a third in a few years. Anyways, he says he doesn't want another child and I do. The thing I don't get is some comments he makes frequently. Yesterday, he asked our oldest daughter if she wanted a little brother. A few months ago we weretalking about breastfeeding and I said that if we had another baby, I wanted to breastfeed because I was unable to with our first 2 children. He told me that whenever we have a boy that the boy would be breastfed. Another comment was that it would be funny that when we had a boy, he would probably look just like me since our daughters are the spitting image of him. Is it just me or does it seem like he's leaning into a yes on the other baby? If not wouldn't he be saying "if" and not "when?"

Do you really think I'm too stupid to ask him? I have....he says no still but continues to give me the mixed signals I mentioned.

Yes, that is the nature of the gender. Don't worry, he loves you and if he is not stating, "I thought we discussed this, we do not want to have more children at this time because...."
Seems that you have the green light! You can get a definite answer, well, indirect yes by asking this, "Do you think that we should go ahead and get rid of all of [last child's] baby things or should we save them for the next baby?" THAT may answer your inquiry.

It sounds like deep down he possibly does want another or maybe is is trying to convince himself that it is a good thing by talking about it. Have a talk with him and ask his feelings now. Tell him what you wrote to us and that you are confused by his comments. The only way to know how he really feels is for him to tell you. Also sounds like he has his heart set on a boy for the next child should you have one...may be another thing to discuss since the sex of the baby is not guaranteed. Good luck.

Remember that most men are very wishy washy. He will most definitely want more children. I think that he may be putting up a facade in order to seem more manly or something of the sort. I bet he could imagine another little bundle of love in your home. What you need to do if you want a serious answer is sit down with him and talk to him. Let him know that you are not kidding and in fact, you are very serious about having another child. Raising a child is no joke, it's hard work, but in the end, it's all worth it. In the end, it's all just a series of trial & tribulation. Good Luck!

It's probably that he emotionally wants another child and would like to have a son, but when he thinks logically about whether it is a good time to have another child he thinks you should wait.

Instead of trying to guess, why don't you just ask him? This is a major decision in a relationship, not somehting to guess about. When my husband responds to questions like that it would mean yes, that he is softening.

Doesn't seem like it to me. Guys don't pick up on words like "when" instead of "if" as often as girls do. I think he was asking your daughter because if she did want one. If she did maybe he would consider it more. Ask him though.
