Unbelievable how many people took that question SO serious.

Seriously, think about it. What are they checking on your driver's license? Your age. You have to be 21 to buy liquor, and a drivers license is an official proof of age. I'm sure if you had a state issued ID card, that would work as well.

This is an idiotic question...

First of all, you don't NEED a driver's license to buy alcohol; you need photo ID. You can buy alcohol with a government issued ID card or, in most cases, a military service ID. Driver's license is simply the standard and, since almost everyone has one, it's just the common thing people ask for.

But, if you notice, anytime someone buys alcohol, they will be asked for "ID," "Photo ID," or simply "Proof of age."

It doesn't HAVE to be a driver's license.

I'm not even going to go into the ridiculousness of what this has to do with drinking and driving at all.

You don't necessarily need a drivers license. You do however need some form of valid identification such as, an identification card, military i.d. or a passport.

it does not have to be a driver's license. it can be a state id card or military id or sometimes another form of id. the law specifies which kinds of id are ok. & you need it to verify your age.
